Customer Review: Excellent Wall Mount

I have been using the peerless wall mount SA740P for over four months now. The mount is strong and well built. Very happy with the flexibility of the mount - 4 joint movement: 3 joints allow to you to move the LCD 180 degrees (or almost 180) horizontal along the wall, the fourth joint allows you move the LCD 20 degrees vertical along the wall.
I am using a Samsung LCD 32 in for my mount. The weight of my LCD is approx 25 lbs and the mount handles it extremely well. The mount is rated to handle upto 60 lbs but I have not tried that weight. I did, however, hang dumbbells weighing 30 lbs on it for a week before I attached my TV.
The mount was exactly what I was looking for. Very satisfied so far.
Cons: The mount is held on the wall with two screws that come in the box. The instructions ask you to drill a hole using 5/32 drill bit (I think). The drill bit size is set such that the screw is tight for the hole and holds well, however, I was unable to screw in the screw in the hole and stripped the screw as well. I had to go buy new screws and had to drill a bigger hole 3/16. The mount is stable though.

The major factor I purchased this wall arm was the price. After I spent $1000 for a LCD TV I wasn't about to spend another $300 for a wall mount. When I saw this mount I was quite skeptical since from the picture it didn't look all that sturdy. However, all my concerns vanished once I installed it.
Wall mount is very well build and feels tough. Furthermore, once I installed it I let my 3-year old hang on it (she weighs 35 lbs) and the mount was hanging dead on. I even hanged for 10 second (I weigh 200 lbs) and no reaction from the mount. What I like the best about the mount is that once TV is installed you can move it anyway you want to: tilt, move horizontally side to side, and extend horizontally. Being able to adjust TV horizontally is the best part because walls in my apartment are very old and when I installed the wall plate it was skewed about 3mm to the right so this adjustment allowed me to compensate for my mistake.
If you are looking to hang your LCD on a wall, don't look any further than this wall mount. For the price and quality it's the best one out there.

Putting a large sum of money into a flat panel TV was always a bit unnerving, but to try to hang it on the wall with a flimsy appearing bracket didn't set well with me. After reviewing comments here, we bought the bracket (at a very good price compared to other providers) and were very pleased with the quality of construction, brevity of well written instructions and ease of mounting. Once my son and I were reassured and re-reassured we had the center of the 2x4 stud located, two holes and a little screwdriver action and we had the mount up in less than five minutes total. Two more minutes with the bracket on the back of the TV (our Toshiba fit perfectly) and then using both of us to hang it carefully and secure with a screw, and we were done. I was prepared to take hours to do it correctly and it fell into place beautifully.
Very smooth finish, heavy duty appearing without being industrial (sleek is the word I'd use) and it does exactly what we wanted it to do.

Open the box, the bracket was small sturdy and easy to assemble. I was a little concerned since the bracket is held to to wall by only two screws, but they haven't budged under the weight of my 40" Toshiba. My only concern with this purchase is that you need to determine if there is a stud directly where you want this mounted. In fact, the stud needs to be off by a couple of inches from the vertical centerline of the LCD/Plasma display. In my case, the stud was almost but not quite there, so my TV is not centered on a wall space between two vertical door mouldings. It looks slightly awkward, but it's a tradeoff that's worth it. The setup looks very clean and getting to the connectors on the Display is a dream. I had centered the display previously using a universal wall mount, but it looked horrible. the display wasn't close to the wall, the end brackets were visible and the connectors weren't easily accessed. BTW: Amazon pricing is the best you'll find anywhere on this item.Customer Review: Built like a tank, easy to install....

Add me to the list of pleased buyers of this unit. Before getting it, I was concerned about being able to adjust it horizontally, to center it between two windows. You see, the stud I mounted it to, was 5" off-center. As it turns out, the mount will NOT allow you to adjust the horizontal position, so buyers beware. The website gives good diagrams of the unit, and you find that the center of the mount plate is about 3.75" from the mount holes. So, even tho' the unit is about 1.25" off-center, it is not noticeable in our installation in the bedroom.
Now, installing this unit is a breeze. I couldn't believe how easy it was, even for one person. Just make sure you find the center of the stud prior to drilling the holes. I used a drill bit just slightly larger than recommended, and the screws were easier to tighten. I also added some rubber pads to the arm so it wouldn't mar the wall when folded back completely. This is a well-engineered product, and certainly worth the cost.
