Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Peerless SA740P Articulating LCD Wall Mount for 22-40" LCD Screens (Black)Customer Review: Why Consider Anything Else? Summary: 5 Stars
As an engineer, I appreciate the challenge of creating a good design. Good design is simple, robust, easy to install and good looking. Hanging my expensive LCD TV on a mount attached to the wall with 2 screws was a little unnerving. But this is a sturdy and well designed mechanical device. The best feature, aside from the simple installation, is the ability to simply position your TV in any location and have it stay precisely where you left it. No thumbscrews or bolts to adjust each blasted angle, looking at the result, readjusting again and again until you are ready to reach for the valium! Just set it and forget it! Can't get better and easier than that! No use even considering another product. Add it to your cart now!
Hint: Buy this mount before you buy your TV, mount it to the wall, run your wiring, so when your spiffy new TV arrives later, it takes you about 5 minutes before you are tuning out the world and marvelling at the wise purchase you made!
Additional Hint: Use the correct size Phillips screwdriver to turn the 2.5 inch screws that attach this to the wall. If you use a screwdriver that has too small a head, you will strip these long screws (they get hard to turn once they are in about 2 inches).
Customer Review: You Could Hang A Small Car Off This Thing... Summary: 5 Stars
The local stores only had wall arms in silver, and I wanted black. So, off to the internet.
(Once again Amazon comes through. "You want black? Here, we got all these brands in black." Go Amazon!)
This thing is far heavier than it looks, and structurally can support a HUGE amount of weight, which is what you want if you're talking about swinging out an $800 flat screen from the wall. The manufacturer gives you mounting screws for literally every last conceivable type of flat screen, as well as a set of really deep wall mounting wood screws in a matching black finish. Find your wall stud, pick your height, fire up the power driver, level it vertically, and it's in!
Pluses: Channels top and bottom on the arm guide and hide whatever cables and wires that lead from the monitor, a thoughtful detail you don't see on a lot of other units. There's monitor tilt of course. And yes, it will fold flat, and I do mean FLAT, against the wall, meaning that you have unlimited degrees of freedom with regards to monitor placement and viewing.
An excellent, handsome, rugged, well thought-out, and well manufactured unit.
Buy it!!
Customer Review: Strong and easy to install...great product! Summary: 5 Stars
We bought this for our new 32" Philips LCD flat panel HDTV. Unfortunately, we didn't have the proper type of wall to mount it on, yet we managed to do so, and it's absolutely incredible. The arm is mounted on a basement wall, which has 2" of styrofoam over cement block, then the knotty pine on top of that. There are 2" wood strips glued and nailed to the block wall. The screws that came with the unit do not enter the block wall; they only reach through the knotty pine, and then into the 2" stud. I suppose we could have purchased longer screws, but we decided to chance it, since there is at least 2.5" of wood to bore into. If we see that it's getting loose as we pull the TV in and out, then we'll go to plan B. Well, it's been a month or so, and this TV gets pulled out, tilted, turned the opposite way, and there is no jiggle in the fittings on the wall bracket. The arm is strong and firm, and it works just great! It took maybe 1/2 hour to put the TV plate on, plus drill the holes for the bracket. Very simple, and very well made. The only thing I would mention is that the mounting bracket is slightly off center from the actual middle of the TV. Therefore, allow for this when installing.
Customer Review: Pleasantly surprised Summary: 5 Stars
After having a heart attack at the prices for mounts--especially articulating wall mounts--I made the plunge and bought this dandy to hold my Toshiba 37" LCD tv. I didn't see anything on the website that indicates how much it would hold, but when I received it the instructions say it can support 80lbs.
After seeing the experience my neighbor went through with setting up the mount for his plasma tv, and a friend who set up his lcd tv with a wall mount, I was expecting the worst. My fears were unfounded. Took maybe a half-hour from start to finish and that was mostly trying to screw the wood screws into the stud (hint: use slightly larger drill bit, and you're still going to need a ratcheting screwdriver to finish it off when the drill won't screw it in anymore).
What was even more surprising was the ease with which the LCD tv fell into its bracket. We picked it up and it slid right in, each bracket resting comfortably and correctly within it. My friend and I looked at each other for a moment 'cause there was no way it was that easy. But apparently it was.
It's been almost a week and the tv hasn't fallen off the wall...so far so good.
Customer Review: A Cheap, But Strong Solution To Mounting a Flat Panel HDTV Summary: 5 Stars
I used this mount for a Samsung LNT3253H, 32" HDTV and it worked just fine. We wanted to mount the TV near a corner and only a single brace mount would accommodate our installation plans. This mount affords the maximum in flexibility for moving and angling your HDTV into the position you want it. It even includes some ability to tilt the TV up or down.
Installation was fairly straightforward. As many have noted, be sure your mounting screws are in the center of the stud! Check and recheck before drilling the guide holes and use the guide holes to test that you aren't on the edge of the stud. This mount has only one bracket with two screws to hold up your HDTV. It will easily hold up a 40" wide screen LCD HDTV if properly installed. But, if the screw connections aren't solid in the stud, the weight of the HDTV when extended on the arm could bring the whole thing down. The screws are tough to get fully seated and you should definitely have a helper when putting in the screws and when mounting the HDTV onto the articulating arm.
Alternatives to this mount cost twice the price or more and few provide the single mount arrangement. No regrets here!
