Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Peerless SA740P Articulating LCD Wall Mount for 22-40" LCD Screens (Black)

Customer Review: Great mount, but the "extension" spec is a bit misleading
Summary: 5 Stars

First, let me say that I'm very pleased with this mount. It's a simple, compact, solid, single-stud design, and it would have been incredibly easy to install if the "extension" spec was as it appeared.

Please allow me to explain. I purchased a 40" Samsung LCD and wanted to mount it on a side wall of my den so that when it was being watched the mount would be fully extended and the TV would be rotated 90° (i.e., perpendicular) to the wall ... then when I need to get into the nearby closet I could rotate the TV against the wall to keep it out of the way. My TV is about 39.5" wide, so when I read in the product description that the mount would extend 20" from the wall I thought that I had found the perfect mount. Alas, when it arrived, I learned that the 20" dimension only applies when the TV remains parallel to the wall, and the extension when the TV is rotated 90° is closer to 17.5"-18", which will be fine for TV's less than about 35" wide, but not for mine. To resolve this shortcomming (pun intended), I built a block of oak, which I lagged to the wall, and to which I attached the base of the mount. With this setup it works exactly as I need it to, and I am therefore happy with the final result.

The mount is sturdy enough for my 40" TV, but I can see why they rate that as the largest acceptable size. My TV has 200x200mm VESA mounting pattern ... the mount is 100x100, but it included a 200x200 adapter plate that works perfectly.

Cable management is unspectacular but very simple and effective ... remove one or both sliding covers, insert the cables, and replace the covers.

All in all, I can't imagine a better mount for the money for use with small-to-medium size TVs.

Customer Review: Ubiased Review of Peerless SA740P Wall Mount
Summary: 5 Stars

I am writing to provide an unbiased, non-technical, "regular guy" review, as I have found those to be the most helpful and beneficial for my personal use in the past. I will cover three areas, the Peerless mount, Amazon site, and delivery. First off, the product itself (Peerless SA740P Articulating LCD Wall Mount) is thus far proving to be well worth the price paid on Amazon. The price was less then I found at other locations, including the Peerless website. I've had it mounted for about two months and have had no negative issues. It works as directed and as I expected - steady, clean smooth movement, left-right, tilt, and easily extends from wall for further rotation/articulation. I have this mounted over my fireplace and outside of the difficulty drilling into the masonry work - installation of the actual product was quite simple. If your brick is as "tough" as mine, I recommend using a rotary hammer (i.e. hammer drill) with at least a mason bit (can be rented from many hardware stores) - once initial hole is developed the hammer action is quick and easy - without this device, I don't think I could have mounted, as I attempted with standard drill and got nowhere after 20+ minutes of drilling. To determine correct mount for your brand of TV, refer to [...]- you can determine the exact model for your television, otherwise it may not fit your set. Amazon site was simple to navigate, provided ample information on products and provided good comparisons. I had this delivered the next day and it arrived by late morning (even with next day delivery, price still came in less than competitors did).

Customer Review: No Regret
Summary: 5 Stars

Product Pro: This mount is heavy and sturdy. Best of all, not only are the pieces solid, but the joints attaching each of the pieces feel smooth and secure. It's designed so that once you articulate the arm, it stays where you want it to stay. The TV wasn't directly at the foot of the bed, so the fact that this articulated in all direction and at a low price, sold me.

Product Con: Nothing really, except for the fact that this entire thing is held up by 2 screws. That makes installation simple, but it took me a while to not worry about it.

Installation Pro: Easy two screws. The attachment to the TV was a series of 4 screws and the bracket fits perfectly. On the wall, just make sure you make the pilot holes deep. Mounting the TV was so easy that I was doubtful the two brackets were actually aligned and hooked up, so I refused to let go.

Installation Con: The screws that mounts to the wall had a hard time digging into the stud. Seems like other screws I've used had sharper edges which made it easier to just drill into the wall. I ended up having to take the screws back out and drill bigger and deeper holes just because I didn't want to end up stripping the screw head or even breaking it off.

Overall, price, quality, and the ability to articulate the LCD in all direction got me to give this a 5 star. Peerless just won me over, that I am getting there glass shelves (PM610G), which I'll mount beneath the TV. All matching color.

Customer Review: Peerless Articulating Arm Review
Summary: 5 Stars

I've had my peerless articulating arm for about a month now. Upon delivery, it became apparent that this arm was heavy duty and good quality. The 3 hinges each give smooth movement...effortlessly. I, personally am glad i didn't opt for a static mount...this Peerless offers an amazing amount of versatility as far as viewing angles are concerned. Being able to view your tv from different angles/areas of any given room is like having more than one tv. No more bad necks! Mounting to a stud was very easy. I would recommend using an 'edge to edge stud-finder'. This will ensure you have a solid anchor to it. I would like to point out that the part of the peerless that you mount to the wall lays a fair few inches off center from the back of the TV, so you might want to compensate for that if you have marked the area of the wall you want the tv to be central to. Another tip you might find helpful is to stick some of those little black pads to the back corners of the tv. This helped me, because I noticed that it is possible to knock the bottom left and right of the tv against the wall. My Peerless is for 32"-40" LCD TVs and with the included VESA universal mount plate, my Samsung 40" LCD TV fit perfectly. At first you will be worried that your tv will hold...but a friend of mine who has done alot of mounting for customers assured me that it's not going anywhere!!! Efficient delivery time. Very happy with purchase. Recommended.

Customer Review: Won't be disappointed with this Peerless Mount
Summary: 5 Stars

I just finished installing this mount for my 32" Sony LCD, and I am very happy with my selection. After looking at dozens of mounts online, this one stood out right away for its aesthetics and clean lines. I saw many articulating arms in the $200+ range that appeared to be over engineered and frankly were not as clean as this peerless mount.

It was very easy to install the single stud mounting system, once I was able to find the stud. The screws it comes with are definitely heavy duty, and my only hang up was being able to screw them in all the way. Had to MacGyver it with a drill screw bit and a wrench for leverage, but eventually I got it in. Definitely no worries there in the mount being able to support my 32" Sony.

The mount appears to be made very well. Heavy duty and not flimsy. I was also impressed with the fact that there was enough clearance for my 32" tv to rotate 90 degrees either way. A little effort is required to swivel out the TV, but the viewing angle tilt works perfect. As well as the surprising left/right tilt (just in case you mount it slightly crooked - another great surprise).

Of course I've never tried a $400 mounting system. But its hard to imagine one that can do more. Except maybe some kind of featherlight swiveling system.

Great product. Came with all the necessary hardware to mount my Sony VESA compliant TV. Would highly recommend it.
