Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Peerless Articulating Wall Mount For Up To 22" Display - Vesa 75/100MM (Silver)

Customer Review: Better than expected
Summary: 5 Stars

It provides a lot more movement than you'd expect for such a small mount. Extremely solid construction. There's no wobble or play in the joints. This could easily hold a much bigger monitor than it's rated for, if the larger monitor provides the 75/100mm VESA mounting pattern. It looks nice to boot, and it's half the price of similar items elsewhere. I bought half a dozen in case it ever gets discontinued. Don't pay over a hundred dollars for any kind of monitor mount unless it's got remote control motorization and washes your dishes. Flat Panel screens are still considered "new" technology, so vendors are still charging premiums for the accessories. Not so in this case.

The first bracket to be installed was for mounting a 22" computer monitor in the center of the picture window in front of my desk. The view out the window is of Diamond head here in Honolulu, so naturally when not using the monitor I wanted to swing it out of the way to enjoy the scenery. I screwed the base (comes with beefy screws) onto the inside of the window frame. When fully extened flat against the window, the mounting head is rotated 90 degrees so that the monitor faces the desk. I can pull the monitor forward a little to read fine print. I can swing the whole arm to the outside of the window frame and turn the mounting head 180 and still see it, although to the side of the window. I can pull it out perpendicular to the window and swivel the head to face anyone that steps into my office. Naturally you need a long enough monitor cable and power cable for that much movement if your also going to tie those cables to the arm so they tip your coffee cup.

Customer Review: May Have to Construct a Sheet-rock Mount
Summary: 5 Stars

After using the Articulating Wall Mount to attach a 17" LCD TV, I was so happy with it that I purchased a 2nd for a 19". This mount is very stable, with adjustable tension screws for every motion. I was lucky with the first TV in that a 2x4 was ideally located behind the sheet-rock to screw the mount into...the 2x4 needs to be located about 3-1/4" from the center of the TV when the mount is folded against the wall. However for the 2nd TV, I had to use toggle bolts to first attach a 1x4 piece of wood, about a foot long, to the sheet-rock wall, and then attach the wall mount to the wood. Toggle bolts are stronger than other drywall fasteners, and the foot length of the wood ensured that the forces on toggle bolts were not much greater than the weight of the TV. An additional advantage of using toggle bolts in this manner is that the wood can be rotated slightly, if you have the rotational problem mentioned by the Sept 27 review. Both of my mounts are working perfectly.

March 1, 2009 Update: CAREFULL! This is NOT the same Peerless model offered in 2007, that I purchased and reviewed. The model I purchased was LCS-KLA, and had a two piece arm coming out from the wall, which I feel made the mount more stable. My guess is that this is a replacement model, and from the reviews appears to pretty good; but I am surprised that Amazon would use a review of the old model with this new model. I am still very happy the older model, which may still be available from other vendors, but I would not trust the vendor's pictures.

Customer Review: A great adjustable wall mount
Summary: 5 Stars

I purchased this wall mount after buying two lesser expensive mounts at WM. I was hoping to save some money as I wanted to hang my 19" Polaroid TV in my daughter's room. Because of the power and cable cords attached to the TV, I needed a wall mount that could move away from the wall at least 5"-6". Also, any LCD TV suffer from viewing angles, so I also needed a wall mount that allowed the TV to be tilted forward.

This wall mount did all that, and for the price of crappy wall mount from WM. The unit attaches with only two screws directly into a stud (I recommend using your own screws since the ones packaged with the wall mount are never great quality). This mount does come with everything you need to hang it on the wall. The one problem is attaching the TV mount back onto the adjustable arm since it requires you to hold the TV in place as you thread a screw attaching both parts. Since this mount is made for TVs less than 25 lbs, it shouldn't be too difficult but a second person would make it a lot easier. The TV is easily adjustable up or down, side to side, and close or far away from the wall. Two hands is always recommended, but the TV can easily be adjusted with one hand.

I will buy another mount when I buy another small LCD TV.

Customer Review: Excellent Product, One Small Issue
Summary: 5 Stars

This unit is solid and very well made. THe mounting flange mates perfectly with my NEC 20" LCD monitor and the included screws fit as they should. In a few minutes I got my desk back! What's strange about this unit however is that even after I used a carpenter's level to mark the placement of the mounting holes on the wall, I found that the LCD is still not level when the entire setup is assembled. This means remounting the whole assembly at once rather than the mount and then the monitor (which is what the instructions show). This seems needlessly inefficient and a little precarious since the monitor and mounting hardware are all hanging by one screw while it's being done. Some users may not even worry about the screen not being level, but mine is mounted in front of picture frames and the out-of-level condition is conspicuous by comparison. (Dry wall anchors are included with the unit, but I strongly suggest not using them; find a wall stud and mount it right. Correction: these are concrete anchors, not for drywall. My concern is that someone might use them in drywall instead of screwing directly into a stud, which would be unfortunate to say the least when the screen hits the floor.)

Customer Review: JUST THE TICKET....
Summary: 5 Stars

I looked at this exact same mount at a local video store for 119.00 "on sale". I hesitated to buy it online thinking it would be a cheap imatation of the one in the store. The hundred or so positive reviews helped me to decide to order this mount and I am sure glad I did.
It is a very well made, metal wall mount that articulates in three locations along the length of the mount and has a tilt feature at the tv end. I mounted it in our travel trailer, to the side of one of the cabinets and used thru bolts instead of the lag screws. I backed up the nuts inside the cabinet with a 1/4 inch piece of plywood to provide a little insurance to the pressboard cabinet. The mounting screws for the tv were too long (as one other reviewer noted)however the stand mounting screws that came with the tv worked perfectly. I have a 13.5 inch flat screen attached to this mount and I wouldn't hesitate to hang a 22 inch on it, it is that solid. The tilt feature is very stiff, but when you think about it, it needs to be, otherwise the tv would just flop down and stay there. We positioned the tilt for optimal viewing and just leave it there.
This is a great product and I highly recommend it.
