If you are installing a dual gang recessed cable plate for running multimedia cables through your wall, you need this to attach to your sheetrock first. When installing the bracket, take note of the where the holes are for attaching the wall plate. The wall plate will have corresponding holes and screws and you need to makes sure the bracket is positioned correctly so that you can mount the wall plate in the right direction. Also, the bracket is not perfectly square, so if you install it sideways and realize you need to rotate it 90 deg, you may need to do some more trimming of the hole to get it to fit.
