Customer Review: Good brightness-but not uniform

These red LEDs are definitely bright, just like the orange ones. They are also an interesting color, easier on your eyes than blue or violet. They require about 2V across the leeds, and can handle about 20mA of current, so adjust accordingly. The only drawback is, even though they are bright, they are not rounded perfectly and as a result, the center spot appears darker, with a brighter halo around that. You can fix it by putting a rough plastic filter on the output light, to mix it back to uniform. Rough translucent polypropylene works, or whatever just as long as you can get the light to disperse a bit.
