I bought a Huey a couple days ago, and calibrated both my desktop and laptop. Digital photo editing has been a longtime hobby of mine - since Photoshop 5, "Back in the day".
There is a "dullness" and color "tinge" that I experienced when looking at my newly calibrated monitors. At first, I was disappointed. After doing visual testing with Photoshop, I am convinced that the Huey is the best thing ever.
I think that many people concerned about the "color tinge" and "dullness" are actually (sadly) used to over-saturated colors and the OLD color tinge on their monitors! Of COURSE the new image is "dull" and looks "odd"!
Looking at a full spectrum gradient with and without color calibration convinced me that the Huey was worth every penny.

I found the software interface ugly and enigmatic, but it functions so well for the price that I really have no complaint. Like other reviewers, I don't know what the dissatisfied customers are talking about when they could not get it to work - but I know for a fact that at least one has a rather inexpensive ViewSonic monitor. I used the unit on several expensive monitors and some cheap ones, and found (unsurprisingly) that it seemed to work best on the most expensive monitor we have in this studio, a huge Apple LCD. The unit is now permanently attached to our main G5 and handles the work of calibration for several high-end 300-page book projects and numerous web sites beautifully. Hardware calibration is the only way to go and the Huey worked great on my PC and Mac. Very easy to set up and calibration takes only minutes. I was amazed by just how bad the tones were on my computers. Reading is easier on the eyes now and my picture browser doesn't have the ugly yellow tint anymore.
For those who are complaining about it not working, please be sure you've aligned the device directly over the area of the screen where the color cycling occurs during the wizard. Otherwise, the device will not be able to detect color shifts and will spit out an error message instead. You might have to run the wizard twice in order to figure out where the color patch will show up exactly.

I used this product to calibrate about a dozen monitors, including flat screens and CRTs from several manufacturers. There was a visible improvement in color fidelity as compared to print samples, and flesh tones appear much more realistic.
It's very fast and easy to use - it takes just a few minutes to go through the process.
We're hooked the Huey to one system in order to see how the automatic room light adjustment feature works. Since our office space has the standard overhead flourescent lighting, this really isn't an important feature for us. We just "set it and forget it."
I plan on recalibrating in a month to see if there s any visible drift over time.

Works like a charm. Used it to calibrate an LCD on a Mac and CRT on a PC, both times it worked flawlessly. Easy installation and operation. Color change can be drastic if your previous settings weren't right, which I know is a problem for most of the people complaining. Not much control in the huey application, but enough for most users (harder to mess the settings up). It basically gives you several choices, preffered color temp at 6500K and options for 5500 and 9300 (actual numbers not mentioned, only named Warm and Cool). Actual device is rather cute, tiny at only 4" long. Using suction cups on my LCD was not a problem, they are very soft. All in all, a keeper.
