Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of PNY Geforce FX5200 256MB PCI Graphics Card

Customer Review: Great Graphics Card
Summary: 5 Stars

I installed this Graphics card in a Sony Vaio.
Great instructions, had it up and running in about 15 minutes.

You can't go wrong with this. It was easy to install and the video quality is great. Good bang for the buck.

Customer Review: Great upgrade for Vista
Summary: 5 Stars

I needed an upgrade for my video card that would work with Vista/ This did the job and at a great price.

Customer Review: Easy Upgrade
Summary: 5 Stars

This was recommended for my Dell Dimension. Now I'm not so limited in my gaming choices.

Customer Review: As Good As It Gets, so stop complaining.
Summary: 4 Stars

I just purchased this card (spent the past 6 hours playing with it) and I would have to say it works about the same as the ATI 9250 256Mb PCI already installed in my Dimension 3000 (not made to play games). Well, it's disappointing to read some of the reviews, it seems as though most people didn't know what they were buying or did enough research for their system. I remember back in the day video cards are not an easy item to upgrade and it still is a difficult item; since it can cause many crashes if you install it wrong or get the wrong card that is NOT compatible with what you need it for; typically software.

I tested the 2 cards (ATI 9250/Geforce 5200) against each other (no bench, just play and run factors) and it doesn't seem as though there is much difference. I tested the game City of Heroes and City of Villains. The only difference was ATI could not handle certain zones of the game (known issue from the game company, and it doesn't seem as though they are going to resolve it) so I bought the Nvidia. Works in all zones no issues. Although, I will say, Nvidia may be a little shower at refreshing. I noticed the frames per second was a bit less than the ATI 9250. But hey if the graphics work on this game I am not going to complain, I can always adjust the settings.

It seems to work best when you let the software adjust the settings instead of using the advanced options to set it yourself. I am not a complete techgeek, but I can hold my own.
I don't think it's worth buying a whole new computer unless I have to, so I became good at band-aiding "older" computers.
