Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of 8-Port Bi-Directional Cable TV HDTV Amplifier Splitter Signal Booster with Pa...

Customer Review: Works great with cable. No worries!
Summary: 5 Stars

Works great! Just mount it, connect it up, and enjoy. I replaced an 8-port passive splitter for my cable-TV with this gem. I had a lot of noise and snow/weak signal and some occasional digital artifacts on my farthest away TV/TiVo. With this PCT-MA2-8P 8-port splitter/amplifier the noise is gone and the picture quality with the stronger signal is all that I could have asked for. The price is a good deal. Two notes: the Amazon page suggests 75 ohm terminators but there's no need for those and no mention of them in the manual. PCT offers an optional power inserter, PCT-MPI-1G which allows plugging in the power adapter at one of the remote ends of the coax rather than directly connecting to the device. I'd like that to allow me to have the power come from my UPS near a TV/TiVo rather than the line outlet in my wiring closet. Note that this device only works with antenna or cable, not satellite.

Customer Review: Just as advertised!
Summary: 5 Stars

This is one of those rare products that is almost perfect in its design and execution. It works exactly as advertised and is extremely simple to hook up. I used it to replace a 4-port, passive cable splitter that the cable company had installed several years ago.

Right now, I am running 4 television sets and 1 cable modem from this unit. Everything is working flawlessly. The only thing lacking in the package is one additional coax cable -- with standard connectors on each end -- to hook up the unit to its power supply. The likely reason that this is not included is that it is "user specific". In other words, the required length of this cable can only be determined by the distance between the unit itself and your nearest AC outlet. Kudos to the manufacturer and to Amazon.com. This product was offered with free shipping and arrived at my door in 3 days!

Customer Review: Replaced stand-alone distribution amp and splitter
Summary: 5 Stars

I was using a 25dB Archer distribution amp followed by an eight-way splitter. I had good reception on most channels, but a few showed obvious interference, especially those above 63. Also, digital channels would occasionally pixelate or drop audio. Channels that looked good would occasionally show horizontal breakup. If I removed the Archer amp and just used the eight-way splitter, the interference would disappear, but the signal was so weak, all channels were a bit snowy.

When I replaced my existing setup with this integrated amp/splitter, all of my issues were solved. I now have no interference on any channel, the digital channels show no digital artifacts and there is no sign of signal weakness on even the farthest TV. I am more than pleased with this purchase, especially for the money! If you plan to split a cable signal, this is an excellent way to go.

Customer Review: Does the job
Summary: 5 Stars

I tend to be skeptical of glowing reviews. But this thing does the job as advertised. Our cable signal was getting worse and worse with our two upstairs TVs, on a split and resplit signal, very long cable runs (for some insane reason, the builder took the cable to the other end of the house, then up to the attic, and from there back to the various upstairs rooms), and using the crappy Comcast digital adapters they had to provide free when they went all-digital, unable to receive three particular channels almost 100% of the time (and when they could be received, lots of pixellation). Used this to replace the first splitter and we've had a very clear signal (no pixellation) ever since. It sure beat taking a day off from work to have Comcast come out and then tell us there was nothing they could do.

Customer Review: Works like magic
Summary: 5 Stars

I had a dual tuner Avermedia card in my home theater PC (HTPC), and was getting decent signal. Every now and then I'd get digital noise on the screen. I then added an ATI dual tuner card, and it wouldn't pick up any channels. I thought it may have been faulty, and removed it, only to notice that since rewiring and adding splitters, I'm getting more noise on my Avermedia tuner card now. So, I ordered this HDTV splitter/booster because of the wonderful reviews. I have to say, I am amazed. I hooked it up, and now not only am I getting a rock solid picture with my Avermedia card, but the ATI card also picks up everything. They're both even picking up channels that never showed up before. Amazing product. As a bonus, it's clearly a quality built product. Very solid construction. It's worth buying.
