Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Palm Z22 HandheldCustomer Review: If you need a basic PDA - this is an excellent option Summary: 5 Stars
This is my fifth Palm. My previous one was a Tungsten T3. I wanted to upgrade, and at that time I had to switch to a Blackberry for work purposes. I adjusted to the blackberry and I left the T3 at home. The T3 still carried a lot of information that I did not transfer to the Blackberry, there is only that much info you want your network administrator to be able to see...
When the battery on the T3 finally died and evrything was lost on the handheld, all we were left with at home was the Palm desktop application.
Then we realized that we need a PDA at home to find the very basic, such as phone numbers, birthdays, access codes etc - which is why we bought the Z22. The other option was to log on to a computer all the time to retrieve that information, which is feasible but a little bit anoying.
Handheld for household? This is not what they were initially designed for, but laptops, intended for the road, ended up as home computers, so why not a home PDA?
So far it has been just like another Palm I had - reliable, without glitches, doing its job. The peripherals for the T3 are not compatible, but I cannot see why I would use them if this PDA is not leaving the house.
Customer Review: A low cost, no frills, gem Summary: 5 Stars
The Z22 will not do the following: make phone calls, send email, do text messaging, play music or videos.
So if that's what you want - the Z22 is not for you.
If you want a reliable, low cost, digital organizer for contacts, a calendar, writing memos, making notes, storing photos (not high quality, but good enough if you are like me and never remember to carry pictures of your family), logging expenses, making lists, playing games (comes with a good chess game on the add on software), dividing the check and figuring the tip, this is for you.
Also - eliminates the need to carry a calculator or an alarm clock. Has a built in dictionary (again in the add on software)Is easy to back up on a PC (can't vouch for a Mac). And there's other software which comes with the basic device, that I never use, and plenty of memory if you want to purchase or get free additional programs.
I love it. It's better than the prior no frills palm pilot I had, and has done something I never thought was possible: I have virtually eliminated my pen and pencil daily organizer.
A bargain at about 90 bucks, as long as you don't want to use it to make phone calls.
Customer Review: Handy Little Device! Summary: 5 Stars
I like being organized and keeping track of important tasks and appointments. Writing on pieces of scratch paper which would end up getting tucked away somewhere and never to be found again was not working for me. I had wanted to get an electronic handheld device for quite awhile to stay on top of such things, especially since I run on a pretty hectic schedule. It's only been a few days but my Palm Z22 has been a lifesaver! Truly. It has not left my side for one second. My job requires constantly running around, multi-tasking and learning how to manage the unexpected. From small tasks to large projects, I have been able to easily input my information and be alerted when I need to be somewhere.
While there are other handheld devices which do a million different things, I've always been accustom to seperate devices which do their one thing very well as opposed to mediocre. With this PDA it does its job and it does it well. Took a lot of researching, but I felt most comfortable in investing in this Palm which is actually a reasonable price. Very affordable for those who don't want to spend a lot, but most importantly, this device works!
Customer Review: This "Toy" Is TOTALLY Awsome! Summary: 5 Stars
Believe it or not, PDA's are a big fad at my middle school (yes, i'm in 6th grade)and I'm the kind of peoson that always has to stay in style, so as soon as 5 people in my grade got a PDA, I had to get one!
I surfed the net for hours trying to find a PDA at a low price (I only had 100 dollars to spend) and landed on a gold mine, a Z22 for only 94.89 at Best Buy!
As soon as I got my Z22, the first thing I did was turn it on, and thats all you really have to do! Even though it does refuse to turn on RARLY, I have no problem with it! The bright screen is perfect for kids like me, this really is a good value for me! But if you need a PDA that will almost keep track of your life, and if you want to really get technical with it, This one is not for you. It is a cool "Toy" for me that helps me stay organized, and it is extreamly helpful to me.
So overall, if you need a PDA just to kinda have fun with and to help you be more organized, get the Z22, I highly reccmond it to anyone!
-Kathryn (the tough reviewer!)
P.S. Buying some of the PDA Skins and Screen Covers makes the Z22 last longer!
Customer Review: Just what I needed Summary: 5 Stars
I got my Palm handheld because i wanted a simple note-taker. It does that well and more. I like that i can password protect memos that i make, its also handy being able to charge via usb or with included ac adapter.
One of my favourite programs is the Splashshopper. I am able to put in my shopping list and tick them off as i put them in the trolley. I can add new items, change prices and even put the isle that i would find them in. You can also make your own custom lists for anything.
You can synchronise the palm with your pc and download items you have added. You can make contacts on the palm and transfer to the pc and vice versa.
The included games are great too, i love playing Crazy Daisy and Sudoku, although the latter has only 100 games per level.
Personally, i was after a simple handheld with no frills and thats just what i got. I dont want to be able to play music etc so it was perfect.
I have added extra software to mine which can be found for free all over the net.
I can't think of anything that would make it better.
