Customer Review: Works well wish it had a few other features

Got this clock to replace a cable box that was strategically placed across the bedroom under the TV. We wanted a clock that had a nice large number display and we believed that the time projected on the ceiling would make it even easier to see. This clock fit that bill nicely. The display on the clock is easily read from about 12 feet and I am nearsighted. Better still the projected time on the ceiling is even better. Just look up and there it is. It does have a feature to flip the projected display and we did need that to view the time correctly. I did check out the radio to ensure it worked but I already have a superb clock radio that I can tell is better than this one.
Upside for us:
+ Bold easy to see numerals on the clock that are not overly bright.
+ Good projected numerals. The display can be flipped and there is a focus wheel. Although focusing seems somewhat limited but clear enough to read not matter where the wheel is.
+ Easy to use controls making setting up simple.
Downside for us:
- Clock display seems to have a red glow behind the numbers. This kind of diminishes the contrast but the numbers are still easy to read.
- I assumed the time would be self setting, but alas it is not. Seems strange these days for a digital clock like this not to have this feature.
- Would have been nice if the projector lens could be rotated a bit front to back. Projected time is displayed directly over the clock, we put a small piece of cardboard under the back side of the clock to move the display out from the wall.
- Clock radio settings are a bit fundamental this day in age.
The clock has all the features we wanted, but it seems that the designed features have been kept to a minimum for ease of use or maybe for reliability. The clock seems well constructed and modern. I give it 4 stars because I am an optomist, but would rate it 3.5 out of 5.
