- 2 Shutter Release Modes
The shutter release is controlled by the two topmost buttons labeled "S" and "2S". "S" releases the shutter and "2S" releases the shutter after a two second delay. When the camera is set in the BULB mode, press the "S" button to open the shutter. After the desired exposure time has been reached, press the "S" button again to close the shutter. Note: The other three buttons below are non-functional on Canon EOS cameras; they are designed to work with select Sony Cybershot cameras only.
- ~16 Ft Range
The remote lives up to its advertised range of 16 feet. Since the remote is an IR device, it works only with a direct line-of-sight to the IR receiver on the camera. It will therefore not work behind the camera. So, if you're planning on using the remote in lieu of a cable shutter release, you would need to point the remote at the front of the camera to release the shutter (not terribly convenient, but it works quite well nonetheless).
- Compact
The remote feels very lightweight and compact in your hand. I was pleasantly surprised at how small it actually is when I received it! It measures a mere 3-3/8" x 1-1/4" x 1/4". (The product dimensions on the product page are actually the dimensions for the *box* the remote comes in, not the dimensions of the remote control unit itself.)
Setup

You camera needs to be set up before the remote can be used with it: Press the left arrow key (one of the buttons that are arranged in a circular fashion on the back of your camera) until "Self-timer / Remote control" is displayed. Press the SET button. You camera is now ready to receive signals from the remote unit. To set the camera back to "regular" mode, simply press the left button until "Single shooting" is displayed and press the SET button.

The Opteka RC-4 Wireless Remote Control works flawlessly. The direct-line-of-sight requirement and the modest remote control range are simply limitations of IR technology. The bottom line: the remote is very reasonably priced and works as advertised. Definitely recommended.
