Customer Review: The Best Flat Panel Wall Mount!

After carefully reading reviews on all types of flat panel mounts I decided to go with this one after the overwhelmingly positive reviews on Amazon.
This is a heavy duty mount that will easily hold your large television. I purchased this for my Sharp Aquos 52" LCD and am very pleased. The mount comes with a template that makes installation a breeze. Hint: You will need to have 16" studs to correctly place this mount.
I have absolutely no carpentry skills and I installed this in a little over two hours thanks to the easy directions and the even easier template. The template also comes with a foldable bottom to catch the wall board debris that comes from drilling holes in the walls! In my opinion Omnimount makes the best wall mounts on the market and by far the easiest to install. This mount is a bit pricey but well worth it. The heftier price is made better by the fact that you really will not need to pay a carpenter to install this - its that easy!

This product is nearly perfect. I downloaded the instructions and reviewed them before I purchasd the item so I knew what I was getting into. I ordered the UCL-XP instead of the UCL-XB thinking that was the black one. I actually like the Platinum color better. The last digit in the model number denotes color. I put the unit up in less than a couple of hours including breaks. The template lays out the mounting positioning very well, deciding how high I needed to place this mount took about as long as putting it up. Leveling is very important, although you do have a little play either way. I placed the mount near a corner for total room viewing and it does not disappoint. At this time I have not used the built-in cable runs so I cannot comment on their usefulness, Im still trying different hookups on the back of the TV. This unit looks gorgeous and my 50" plasma seems to float in the air. I purchased this unit after extensive research. This unit is superior or equivalent to the units I found in high end electronics stores for $600 to $800. The engineering is incredible. I am so pleased with this unit. The manufacturer provides an extensive portfolio of hardware to meet any installation needs of the adapater plate or the unit to the wall. This unit was very easy to install. Two people are definitely required to hold the unit to the wall when bolting it up and also when lifting the Plasma onto the stand. A template is provided. A person installing this unit needs a tape measure, level, drill, 5/16" bit, and stud finder...six 5/16" bolts into the studs and the installation is complete (again, all hardware is provided). I saved myself $300.00 by buying this unit online. I purchased my unit from Dependable Resource. I purchase online often and this was truly the best online experience I've ever had. I purchased this mount through Amazon and I could not be happier with it. The package came banged up a bit but everything was intact and none of the pieces were missing. This mount is built like a tank and I currently have a 58 inch Panasonic plasma on it.
The only downside to this product is the average instruction manual. I currently have this placed over my fireplace and it takes a good amount of effort to extend it out and to push it back in. Its impossible to do this without a ladder because of where I have it mounted but I would believe that it you have it mounted shoulder height, it would be much easier.
Installation was definitely a two man job and you want to make sure that this thing is mounted solid into a stud because the mount itself weighs quite a bit. Cable management on this piece is also okay. Its a great mount to get through Amazon for the price. Similar Sanus mounts cost $500 and up and this works just as well.

This is definitely not a do-it-yourself installation, however if you've been impatiently waiting to mount your beast of a television on copious amounts of steel and are really excited to start drilling, then this can be a one man job. I received the product, which arrives in an enormous box, with a set of instructions in more languages the the United Nations could even comprehend. However, the install was acutally fairly uneventful and reasonably facile. If you're mounting to steel beams, then beware, because most likely you will need washers, as the bolts provided have threads which stop about 1.5 cm from the top.
When it comes time to mount the television, and you're feeling like Lou Ferrigno circa 1978, then you'll be able to lift that LCD (probably not a plasma) up onto the bolts and BAM!!! You're done. Overall, easy install, great looking product and perfect for those situations when a table top tv is so last season.
