Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of OmniMount UCLX-P Articulating Wall Mount for 42" to 63" Displays (Silver)Customer Review: Very satisfied with this product Summary: 5 Stars
First off, for those of you that are still wary of making purchases online like I am, I found this to be a very easy and confidence building experience for purchasing online. No problems.
I received the product and unpacked it and my first reaction was WOW, this thing is huge, but then again, I am using it to mount a Philips 52" LCD. I installed the mount myself. My biggest concern was not hitting the studs. I used a stud finder going over the same area's multiple times, just to be sure. I then used a drill with a small bit to drill through where the studs were and drilled where I thought would be the outside parts of the stud (so I could hit the studs in the middle). The tools I used were a laser leveler, some painters masking tape, ratchet and socket, phillips screw driver, stud finder, drill.
The mount comes with a template that you set up prior to actually installing the mount, which helped out great and I was confident after using the template that the mounting would be square. The mount itself is fairly heavy and my son had to help me hold it up. The lag bolts are significant and I pre-drilled the holes to ease the pressure when installing the bolts to keep the studs from splitting. All in all, it was an easy install and supports my television just fine. I like all of the adjustments that can be made with the articulating arm. I did confirm that this very same mount is sold at Circuit City for ~ $650 which I thought was a crazy mark-up, so for the price you pay for this product here on Amazon, it's a steal! Good luck and I hope you enjoy your purchase as much as I do!
Customer Review: OmniMount Cantiler Mount Summary: 5 Stars
Absolutely the best mount you could buy for a plasma TV. I installed this myself with the new Pioneer Elite 150FD 60" plasma and it holds the 145 pounds quite well. It is rated to 200. You need a couple friends just to put the TV on the mount due to the weight and you need someone free to tighten the allen bolts down.
Whatever you do don't buy this in a brick and mortar store. Between Best Buy/Ultimate Electronics/Circuit City, they wanted $610.00 in the store. way too much. I bought it on Amazon for $225.00. Only $50.00 more than a tilt mount in a store. I luckily had the chance to return the tilt mount since there is no way I could hide my DirectTV receiver and wireless headphones behind a tilt mount other than to make a pocket in the wall. This is a much easier approach.
If you want to hide items such as a receiver/dvd/headphones this is an easy way to do it and still have access to the items. I have installed a tilt mount and it is a pain in the a** to wire. This makes it so much easier to get access behind the TV. The outlex openings are sized for a duplex box and I can get all the phone/2RG6/Electrical I want and still have more room above the mount for a monster power conditioner.
It is about 5 inches away from the wall and everyone says it looks like a piece of art on the wall. Simple and clean. You can see the structure from the side, but I hid everthing on the far side and mounted a 4 inch trophy shelf for my receiver. Works great.
Customer Review: Superb Large LCD Wall Mount Summary: 5 Stars
OmniMount UCL-XP Dual Arm Cantilever Mount (fits 42"-63" flat panels)Absolutely the greatest large format TV wall mount available. Having read the negative parts of other reviews about the difficulty in instillation of this mount, I went online and downloaded the instruction manual from Omni. It looked quite simple and in fact was!! If you have never used a stud finder or an electric drill or installed lag bolts in a wall, then it might seem intimidating. It was actually very easy and straight forward. The mount itself is constructed of high quality materials and has all the parts laid out in simple packaging. The mount comes with a simple to use wall template that sticks on the wall and even has a tray at the bottom to catch the dust and drill chips from the wall. After mounting the wall plate and the adapter on the TV, the dual arm cantilever ties both pieces together into an extremely secure assembly. The mount comes with cover plates to hide the cables and really finishes off the entire mount. This mount allows movement from side to side as well as tilt of the TV. It also extends out from the wall up to 28" or collapses back to within 6.2" of the wall. Quite a large and very useful range of movement. Haven't seen anything better on the market!!
Customer Review: Great Product and Seller Summary: 5 Stars
I compared several options and ended up choosing the OmniMount over several other cheaper options (paid higher price). I am very happy with my choice as the mount came with very clear instructions on how to assemble and install the bracket to the wall as well as to the TV (even came with a wall mounting template!). I also found that the Omni Mount was very adjustable in terms of the movement it offered with the mounted TV. It also offered additional freedom in terms of mounting and centering the TV on the wall (in cases studs are not centered in the location where you are mounting... be careful as adjustment is limited).
In addition to all this, the mount came with all the necessary hardware for ease of installation. Hardware was included for mounting the bracket to the TV (a variety of sizes that fit most TVs) and for mounting the bracket to the Wall. All I needed was a level, drill and some other miscellaneous hardware indicated in the assembly manual. Before you order the mount, make sure that it is appropriate for the size, weight and dimensions of your TV (I did a whole bunch of looks up and measurements before placing my order). Overall, the bracket came in good condition even-though the box had dents and tears around the corners of the box. The mount is now in the living room supporting a 54" TV, never been happier!
Customer Review: One of the best wall mounts on the market! Summary: 5 Stars
My husband purchased this wall mount for our 50" plasma. We have a little smaller plasma on a stand but wanted to try a wall mount for a bigger tv in the family room. It holds the tv beautifully and supports the weight even when it is completely telescoped off the wall. It swivels left and right, tilts up and down and allows for great viewing angle from virtually anywhere in the house (if one has an open floor plan).
We downloaded the instructions off the manufacturer's website, as the ones that were included were not too clear (to us). Instructions on the website were great: more detailed, had clear pictures and explanations. The only difficulty we encountered was with our studs. The mount of course must be drilled into two studs. However, if one is in Florida and is in a newly built home, he or she will quickly find out that studs in the non-load bearing walls are hollow metal and not wood. We did not risk using the bolts included in the set of hardware and purchased at a local Home Depot store a HILTI 3/8" x 2-1/2" Toggler Brand Toggle Bolt - it worked great and we telescope the tv as far as the mount allows all the time.
