I bought this shelf because I have a 51" projection TV that sits in an alcove and there isn't room on either side of the TV for an A/V stand.
I needed to put a cable box and PS3 on it.
Very well worth the money. This shelf is very strong and is easy to assemble and mount. As others have said, make sure you understand what type of TV's this mount is for and then go for it...it's an excellent buy. Very sturdy, well built, easy instructions.
I personally didn't go for the upside-down custom mount as others have said, but that's because my top lip of my TV is beveled so the upside-down mount doesn't sit right. But the edge of my TV is black so this shelf's pegs almost blend in completely with the TV edge.
Wish I'd have bought this years ago.

I ordered 2 of these Shelves. One to hold my HD receiver and one to hold my VCR/DVD player. I have a 55 in. RCA big screen tv and it worked just great. They don't look out of place and people who have came to my house haven't even noticed that they were sitting on top of the tv (I've asked them later). They blend right in. We, however, did turn them upside down (as someone on here had suggested) and they worked better. They are very sturdy. I recommend them highly to anyone that doesn't have the space for a very large cabinet as we did not or anyone that doesn't want to go to the expense of buying a separate cabinet.Customer Review: Upside-down mounting the way to go!

As suggested by another reviewer I tried mounting the shelf upside down on my Sony KDS-60A3000. Good idea! The shelf is "invisible", with only a slight lip extending over the silver bezel of the TV. The pegs designed for right-side-up mounting would have extended into the screen.
As far as those reporting the shelf collapsing, I have not had any problems. Just don't over load the shelf; be certain that all set screws are tight and clean the area where the pads connect to the back of the TV.
Highly recommended...and you get better sound when you get the center speaker above the TV.

I was looking for a solution for my center chanel speaker that did not involve a hole in the wall. I found the Omnimount and not much else. I was a little worried when a reviewer said it was not designed for the newer shallower TVs. Well, it turns out it is. Maybe it was redesigned, but the instructions show you how to attach it to three different type of TVs - deep, shallow and drop back (not sure if these were the exact names).
The shelf is quite wide, so it looks like it could handle much bigger speakers than mine, or maybe a cable box. Still, it blends with the black TV case and looks real nice.

First of all, all the small parts were located in a small bag included in the box with the shelf.Everything was there and ready to put together. I didn't have to use very much out of the bag of parts, since my Mitsu.DLP Rear Projection TV had a slope at the upper back side that only needed the short extension legs. I found that the shelf it self worked best in my situation used upsidedown so I didn't have to use the edge pegs to keep the shelf from slipping off. After all was done, it looks great and serves it's purpose very well. I highly recommend this Item 100%!
