Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of NETGEAR WNHDEB111-100NAS Wireless N Access PointCustomer Review: Work just like the promo says they work, and easy easy easy to set up Summary: 5 Stars
Customer review from the Amazon Vine™ Program (What's this?)
Brilliant, these things are -
Set up was very easy. The most time consuming part was taking them out of the box, unwrapping all the little twisty ties and plastics and whatnot, and then finding a place to discard and recycle the wrapping materials. Connecting the units to the game machine and to the router was so easy, it made opening the box look like grad school. These were - at least for us - truly as simple as "connect units and turn them on". No hassle, no fighting, no troubleshooting at all.
I'm amazed each year at how much easier computer equipment becomes to use - compared to the old days when getting a computer to speak with a dot-matrix printer the first time was an entire wasted evening, today's world is pure heaven. Netgear's wireless-N networking kit certainly fits the bill.
The speed of connection with the router is VERY noticeably faster with these. They work just like the box says. We've not yet tried them to connect multiple game boxes, but I can't imagine that they would work any differently than advertised.
We've not used them with computers or any of the other fancy stuff that I see other people have done with them. We've only used them with a Playstation and an Xbox.
Customer Review: Excellent Bridge - Easy to setup Summary: 5 Stars
I purchased the pair of WNHDE111 5Ghz AP/Bridges to connect 2 x DIRECTV HD DVRs and an XBOX 360 to my broadband connection utilizing the very under used 5Ghz band. One bridge connects one DVR and the other connects the other DVR and the XBOX. Both bridges access my NETGEAR Dual Band Router.
The setup was extremely simple using the push button approach. Plug the bridge in, press the front button for 10sec, then press the button on my router, and within 2 minutes the devices were talking and passing data. The second bridge was just a simple.
I live in a large house with steel framing, which will affect ANY radio signal. The bridge closest to the router gets 85% signal strangth (1 Wall, same level), the bridge furthest away gets 24% signal strength (3 walls, one level up) The bridge with low signal strength still enabled me to download a full feature movie to my DVR in about 12-15 minutes whilst a fierce XBOX live battle was being waged through the other bridge without any lag or dropouts.
This setup has now allowed the 2.4Ghz band to be used by only the household PC's without any hindrance caused by massive data transfers. I can even watch downloaded HD content on one DVR via another DVR across the network.
Buying a pair of devices is value for money, additionally each bridge comes with 2 Ethernet ports where as the competitor equipment only comes with 1.
I fully recommend these devices.
Customer Review: It just works Summary: 5 Stars
I purchased this wireless networking kit after I was unable to find the DLINK DAP1522 access point in stock at Amazon or other retailers. I already have a DIR-655 and thought that going with an all DLINK network would minimize problems. I was concerned that the ethernet port on the Netgear product was only 100MB versus the four (4) GigE ports on the Dlink. I left my DIR-655 in place as the DHCP server on my network and put the Netgear as a supplemental wireless N network operating in an N-only mode. The push button WPA is very easy to use. The over the air firmware update worked flawlessly. Netflix streaming on my TiVo HD works perfect as does streaming to my Vudu. I did have to add my ethernet switch to multiplex the one port on the netgear to my three (3) home entertainment devices (TiVo HD, XBOX 360, and Vudu). In summary:
Pros
- Cost efficient way to bridge wirelessly to HD capable entertainment devices
- Supports adding additional wireless N endpoints to the network
- Simple to use push button WPA security
- Decent web-based configuration software
- 5 GHz bandwidth which is a pro and a con
Cons
- Only 1 non-gigE ethernet port
- Signal strength on 5 GHz is not as high as my DIR-655 operating on 2.4 GHz. I haven't run enough tests to determine throughput wirelessly over the 802.11g DIR-655 versus the 802.11n Netgear.
Customer Review: Get ready to join the whole world in your games. Summary: 5 Stars
Customer review from the Amazon Vine™ Program (What's this?)
You have opened a whole new world of gaming but, not only playing other players, you can get information and insights available only to the online people.
Where to start? You have an information pipe that connects you to the internet. Most people have cable with a digital router connected to it. It's the box that the network cables or cables a bit bigger than the phone lines go into it.
Get power to your wireless networking. Then plug it into your digital cable box or how ever you connect to the internet. Then plug your Xbox, Wii or whatever into that.
You may need to power down the digital cable box so it recognizes the new stuff you've plugged in. And you may also have to program in a secret code to your wireless neighbors don't surf on your connection, but other than that, you should be good to go.
It takes game playing to a whole new virtual vorld. I'm looking forward to playing Texas Hold'em with others.
Excellent product, as Netgear always makes.
Customer Review: Excellent as HDTV Bridge Summary: 5 Stars
I first got the Netgear WNDR3700. I chose this because it is much faster than the older 3300 version and a little bit faster than LinkSys WRT610N. I can't find the web site but one really good one did comparisons for different distances and thru walls and floors. The 3700 replaced a 2.4 Ghz D-Link G router. The D-Link was very complicated to set up a couple years ago but the Netgear following directions exactly on when to power on/off and disconnect, Netgear router was easy and worked first time. I picked the 3700 because it had 5 GHz. All this leads up to my choice for WNHDEB111. I bought the pair to use with my HDTV. It was tested to be faster than the powerline ethernet adapters. I used one WNHDEB111 as a bridge to a Panasonic Plasma G10 in the bedroom (thru 1 wall about 20 ft away) and used the other as a bridge to a Sony 46z5100 LCD in my living room (thru 1 wall about 45 ft away). Have streamed HD and regular movies from Netflix with no problems. Setup was also very easy. Directions aren't straight forward but once you understand that all one has to do is push a button on the B111 then push one on 3700, they automatically sync up. Easiest network setup I've ever had!
