Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of NETGEAR WGPS606 54 Mbps Wireless Print Server with 4-port Switch

Customer Review: Easy set up and I am a novice
Summary: 5 Stars

I read many reviews of the Linksys and Netgear Print Servers and knew the Linksys was probably not for me. I purchased the Netgear and popped the CD in and followed their easy to follow instructions. I went through it once and I was printing. I am surprised that others say the documentation and installation instructions are lacking because the wizard on the CD was all I needed. I am new to networking and wireless gear so I am pleasantly surprised at how easy it was to set up the Netgear printer server. I am using a laptop with linksys router and laptop card. The laptops are Dell Inspiron 5150 and the printer is an HP1320 Laser Jet.

Customer Review: Very Satisfied
Summary: 5 Stars

This works great with HP Laserjet 1320 (already on the printer compatible list) and the Kodak Easyshare 5300 (not on ANY Netgear list). There is no bidirectional support of the Kodak printer, and you can't scan from the Kodak printer wirelessly, but printing works very well.

The setup wizard made things easy. The only setup issue I had was with a Vista computer - the firewall settings had to be adjusted.

An XP computer set-up perfectly.

This device even came with a printer cable - a nice touch when you consider many printers don't come with one.

Customer Review: Very Easy to Set Up
Summary: 5 Stars

I bought this so that my whole family with all of our laptops would be able to use a dedicated printer. I checked on Netgear's website before ordering to make sure my printer would work and was happy when I saw that it would. Setup was extremely easy and really the only time consuming part was making sure the print driver for the printer I wanted to use was on each of our laptops.

As an added bonus where we set up the server and printer my son can now hook up his Xbox for use with Xbox Live.

I can easily recommend this product.

Customer Review: printer server alternative
Summary: 5 Stars

Great product once it is set up. We use several lap tops that are mobile without a direct printer connection. With this wireless printer setup we can print to one printer without having to transfer the file to a flash drive, boot the connected computer and then fight with software compatability. The setup is not a simple plug and play, but once installed it works as a stand alone unit that is not connected to the original computer. The only draw back is that it takes some adjustment to use the scanner on the Brother printer.

Customer Review: great product

i was glad to receive this item to link my ps2 to the internet. my main wireless modem is located in another room and this "wireless bridge" effectively let me connect to the internet without running wires to the other room plus it has 3 other ethernet ports to connect other computers, laptops, etc and 2 more usb ports (on top of that)to hook up 2 printers if needed. i have fairly new equipment(computer about 4 years old) so i did not have any trouble setting up this product with my computer. i love this product!!!!!!
