I Bought a refurbished wgps606 and installed with a pixma ip4000 canon printer on windows vista.
1-turn on the netgear wgps606 print server and reset its settings to factory settings, using a paper clip.
2-be sure your wireless conection is SET private -NO PUBLIC.
3-INSTALL the cd that came with your netgear wgps606 or download it form netgear.com and install it to your computer.
4-just follow the easy instructions on the screen and be ready to enjoy wireless printer.
I was having problems trying to install this print server wgps606 at first ,beacause my wireless connection was setup using the public settings,I just changed that and I followed the step by step guide from the cd and in less of 10 minutes I was printing using the wifi connection.
I hope this review helps others having similar problems.
Customer Review: Does what it says Summary: 5 Stars
I bought the Netgear WGPS606 last year, and it has been a rock-solid device for our wireless network. It took a little bit to get configured like many wireless devices out there, but it hasn't dropped a signal one time in a year. I have even had to reset my Linksys router a few times during that time, but never the 606. I works fine within our router firewall, and it does not interfere with the default setup for Norton Internet Security.
It does a really good job of serving a small Epson printer, and I now have it as a gaming adapter for my Xbox 360. It also allows us to plug ethernet cables into the back of it, instead of going to the wireless router.
All in all, it does exactly what it is supposed to do...and more.
Customer Review: Works great as a networked print server Summary: 5 Stars
I have a Brother multi-function printer directly connected to this via an Ethernet port. I have not yet tried the USB ports for printer hookup. This unit logs into a DLink N router in another room and my wireless laptops have full access to the printer including fax services.
I reserve network addresses on the DLink router after things seem to work, but this is not necessary. Remote devices often must do a DHCP IP retrieval rather than use use a fixed IP sometimes, so that the wireless routing devices know they are there; perhaps the wireless routers could be better at scanning.
This product does what I wanted it to do. I also turned on security (WPA2) without a problem.
Customer Review: Very easy setup - reliable so far... Summary: 5 Stars
It took me less than 10 minutes to set up the WGPS606 on my home network (5 OS X Macs, 1 PC) using web-based configuration (http://198.162.0.102).
The server quickly detected and connected to my existing wireless network. Signal strength of 65% (length of house & separate floors) gives us very good WAN/LAN connection speed. WEP encryption setup was simple.
I was able to connect an Epson R200 to one of the 2 USB ports, and had that running well in only a few minutes.
My advice: Ignore the Wizard setup option. Use the web-based option instead, and just refresh the DHCP on each computer that you hang from the switch. It's that easy.
Customer Review: Netgear Wireless Print Server made network expansion easy Summary: 5 Stars
I needed a way to rearrange printers in my office without stringing a lot of cables. One needed USB connection. The other needed Ethernet. Both for shared access by PCs and Macs. The WGPS606 handled both the first time. Then I needed to connect a Mac G5 that was about 20 feet from my switch and lacked an Airport card. So I plugged it into the WGPS606 and connected to the Internet immediately. (The WGPS606 would be an economical alternative to a pricey Airport card, even if no printer were attached.) The Netgear WGPS606 wireless print server does what it is supposed to do, without any fuss. I'm pleased with it, so I recommended it to a client as well.
