There are many scanners out there that scan beautifully. The absolute genious of NeatWorks is the software that reads and compiles your information for tax purposes. If you are self-employed, this is the answer to keeping real-time records for year-end tax reporting. It truly does what it says and extracts the information needed for tax reporting from the receipt and puts it in a spreadsheet. You end up with a scanned copy of the receipt, a running total of your expenses, and an itemized spreadsheet for all expenses. NeatWorks is totally customizable, so you can create as many different files as you would like. I made a personal receipt file for non-tax reporting items so I can quickly find receipts for my personal purchases as well as a business receipt file for year-end tax reporting.Customer Review: Great tool for road warriors

This is a great tool for anyone who is on the road a lot. I originally purchased this product about 3 years ago due to the fear of loosing receipts and traveling about 60%.
Now a larger company that bought us has online expense reporting and we have to collect more receipts and fax them all in. I am now traveling 90% and this product makes completing the expense report with better accuracy because I check off each receipt that I enter and can compare the total on the Neat program with the online to make sure that I did not mis any. Then I can print my receipts to the Winfax and fax them all in w/o killing a bunch of extra trees.
Version 3.0 had some great improvements from my original 2.5. I am thinking of buying the upgrade to 4.0.

If you are a business traveler and like to be organized, the NeatReceipts Professional Mobile Receipt and Document Scanner is a must for you. It easily fits into a briefcase or backpack and is ready to use instantly after plugging into a USB Port on any laptop. I am now able to spend more time with my kids when I get home because all of my receipts are scanned every night I'm away. Since the power source comes from my laptop, I can even scan receipts on the plane when I'm traveling home. The software is a breeze to install and also allows you to scan in a PDF format. Neat Receipts is the key to achieving a "lesspaper" office! For years, I struggled with growing mounds of credit card receipts, business cards, etc., then Neat Receipts entered my life. No more paper to manage! Most importantly, I can always find receipts by vendor, date, amount, etc. I particularly like the business card scanning feature because it accurately and rapidly scans contact information into my Outlook contacts folder - no more typing of names, email addresses, etc. I also like the compact footprint of the Neat Receipts scanner - fits on my desk without taking up too much space. Highly recommend this product. Doing expenses was a 'pain' for me due to which I have lost some receipts resulting in a loss.
I got neatreceipts to motivate myself with some technology to assist in doing expenses and it did exactly that. I am never behind in my expenses and always accurate. I dont just send the scanned receipts, it creates a nice report with my personal details, a summary report and attaches the images of receipts. Awesome!
Come taxes time, I can authoritatively say how much I spent on what with all the receipts to back it up.
Fantastic product! You don't know what you are missing until you buy this product.
