Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Navigon 5100 3.5-Inch Portable GPS NavigatorCustomer Review: Nice GPS Summary: 5 Stars
This is a very nice GPS system. I'm amazed at some of the negative reviews and nitpicking.... the 5100 has worked great for me so far. I literally have no complaints.
Some points from other reviews that I can address:
The free traffic is great - it certainly looks like its useful here in Chicago.
The sound is a bit quiet - but its not too bad, and really - do you need to hear the directions all the time?
As far as the complaints about the grey screen... jeez. its fine. grey is the background, the road is highlighted in yellow. Its clear. Not fancy. But readable at a glance.
The mount is just fine on my 2006 Impala. POI info is fine - others have complained about post office data and big box store data, but since I never use a post office outside of my own, and I dont usually find myself dying to know where the nearest Costco is.. i dont care. Show me the food, hotels, gas and airports and Im good.
Customer Review: Navigon 5100 Summary: 5 Stars
I got this gps for Christmas last year. I use it pretty frequently all across the USA on vacations and such. I never have got lost or turned around with my Navigon. I am not good with directions and my Navigon never fails me to get me where I need to go. You can compare the directions it wants to take you compared to google or mapquest and change them as needed. Very user friendly with a nice night and day verison so it doesnt blind you at night. Just from last year to now I have received at least 3 updates from Navigon via email to update my gps. The updates are great to keep the device up to date with the latest maps and traffic conditions. The only thing I wish was different was the volume. I wish it was just a little bit louder since the speaker is on the back of it. Other then that I highly recommend this gps over any other one out there. It tells you what specific street to turn on unlike the rest that just tell you to turn left or right.
Customer Review: The Ultimate Navigator Summary: 5 Stars
I had to search long and hard to find an affordable reliable navigator and I have to say I found it. The product description and buyer feedback helped a lot, so I'd like to thank everybody else for taking the time to review it.
This GPS device is all I've been searching for. I love everything about it, and it has managed to make our trips a lot more pleasant since every time we ended up fighting because the damn GPS confused us. This one is simple, gives clear directions and we just love the lane assistant. There's nothing confusing about it that leaves you hanging and trying to figure out what it meant.
All its little features and settings contribute to it being the ultimate little copilot especially considering the affordable price.
I strongly recommend this product to other buyers. Read the product description and if it has all you're looking for, you're not gonna regret buying it. I sure don't.
Customer Review: Navigon is Great Unit! Summary: 5 Stars
Tried Tom Tom One but love my Navigon 5100. Text to speech, cool interchange signage, compact size, quick to startup and recalculation...oh, and did I mention FREE LIFETIME TRAFFIC with Zagat reviews? This unit has already saved me it's cost in recalculating my routes around traffic congestion, accidents, construction and more.
Save some money and buy the Navigon 2100 as it's virtually the same unit (less memory, I think) and you can sometimes score it for as little as $100 with Traffic upgrade. What a deal! I only bought the 5100 cause I got a smokin' deal on it from Amazon. How about $170 with free shipping, after mfg. rebate and Amazon sign up bonus? Amazing? No, Amazon.
Only con is the speaker volume's a little anemic when traveling at highway speeds but not a big deal. Otherwise, a great unit, easy to learn, program and follow. Way to go Navigon!
Customer Review: Navigon 5100 Summary: 5 Stars
Navigon 5100 3.5-Inch Portable GPS Navigator I recently used my Navigon 5100 for the first time out of town. The graphics are amazing. The unit is simple to use. The feature rich 5100 hands down beats the socks off of similarly priced competitor's units. The voice to text, free traffic, real view graphics and inexpensive updates make the Navigon 5100 a value shopper's dream unit. I updated my unit right out of the box for free at the Navigon website. While driving, I found the voice guidance easy to understand and simple to follow. The reroute feature was quick and responsive if I make a detour in an area I am familiar. My only complaint would be the long loading time with initial start up but I can live with a 30 sec wait if I am getting free traffic reports for life.
