This product is the first item that I have ever ordered via the Internet. First I viewed several websites that offered shipping scales. I decided to make my purchase of a scale through Amazon because it is easy to navigate and was easy for me to find what I was looking for.
Then I studied the various scales being offered, and read the reviews as well. I singled down my choice for this scale, because I wanted a digital shipping scale with a detachable face plate for a reasonable price and one that included an AC adapter!
The company InFocus included an AC adapter and I received my order 6 days later via FedEx. When I opened the professionally packed box, I was delighted, and the scale had a solid feel to it.
I plugged it in and weighed some books which I had pre-weighed at the post office before receiving the scale. When weighing the same books again with this scale, each book weighed exactly as it did at the PO.
This little and inexpensive scale is going to save me a lot of time with calculating postage for shipping cost..fewer trips to the Post Office for that.
I believe that this scale will be meet all my shipping needs for years to come. It really make me feel good to make the most of my consumer dollar.
In summary: It was just what I wanted and I am happy!

I really can't say much of anything bad about this scale. It is very accurate as far as I can tell (I do not have a precision weight reference to test with it#. The weights it displays are very repeatable in that you repeatedly replace the same item on it and it always reads the same amount. Seems to be well made and not flimsy. There are recesses molded into the sides to make picking it up easier. It also powers up pretty quickly #about 3 seconds# but note that I've only used it on A/C power, so I don't know if that would be different on batteries. On the issue of A/C power, the maker was decent enough to specify the voltage, amperage and polarity required #9-12V, 100ma, neg tip) so you can use an adapter you may have laying around rather than insisting on using their own. I am actually using a power adapter for an old cordless phone and it works fine.
I only have one very minor criticism. If you detatch the display panel in order to weigh a large object, reattaching it is a little cumbersome since you need to insert the cord length back into a rather small opening in the main unit. That complaint is not enough for me not to give it 5 out of 5 stars though.

This scale is great for weighing pretty much anything (under 55lb, of course). It has a large surface, which is perfect for weighing large boxes. Furthermore, the detachable display makes reading the weight of a large item easy. This scale is consistent with its readings, and the ability to choose the format of the weight displayed (g, lb:oz, kg, lb, oz) removes the need for the conversions I had to make with my old scale.
There are really only two things I'd change about this scale. First, the detachable display (useful for larger items) does not detach too easily and it's really inconvenient to attach and detach between packages. Second, it takes just under 10 seconds to turn on. While this isn't even an issue, really, it would be nice if it could start up a little quicker.
It's worth noting that the scale doesn't come with the 4 C batteries or AC adapter, either of which can be used to power it. I've found that the 4 C batteries have lasted quite a while with moderate use, so I haven't had the need to invest in the AC adapter.
Overall, this is an excellent, high quality product at a really affordable price. I'm glad I purchased it.

I initially purchased the Ultraship Electronic Digital scale for my home business. I was impressed by the capacity of 55 LB. I was even more impressed with I began to use the scale. It has a switch to allow you to change the scale's measurement units. This allows you to switch from ounces, grams, pounds and kilograms.
The scale has a display that is large and easy to read. It operates on batteries or on AC with the AC power supply that is included.
We have now found it to be a valuable aid in the kitchen as well as the office. My wife and I recently started a weight loss program that requires us to measure the weight of many foods. The Ultraship allows us to accurately weigh foods. You can place an empty food container on the scale, easily adjust the scale so that the display shows a zero weight. Then placing the food in the container allows you to get a totally accurate weight for the food.
I looked a digital scale at Wal-Mart before I purchased this one. The one at Wal_Mart was two dollars more and didn't have hardly any of the features of this scale. To sum up it all up in one word, Ultraship is AWESOME.

For several years I have used the PELOUZE model PE5 scale not by choice as it was the only one I could find at the price I could afford.
My PELOUZE only goes up to 5 lbs.; and if the box you wanted to weigh was to large, you would have to try to peek in between the box and the scale. The hold fuction on the PELOUZE never worked properly. The PELOUSE would ONLY last about 2 years at best.
I just purchased the ULTRA SHIP and am impressed with the features. which is like comparing night with day.
A removable display that detaches from the body and lights up (I had to use some Petroleum jelly on the back of the scale to remove it more easily). You can weigh up to 55 lbs, has a TARE, HOLD and auto off feature. Uses 6 C batteries or an adapter (make sure the seller has this feature).
I am unable to find any fault the this ULTRASHIP scale which is a different story with the PELOUSE.
Bottom line, you can't go wrong with the ULTRASHIP.
