Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Motorola Signal Booster 484095-001-00 Bi-Directional RF AmplifierCustomer Review: Boosted HD Signal! Summary: 5 Stars
I hope this is helpful for some people. I have Cox Cable in LA and have the Motorola DC6200 cable box, I have digital and HD signals running to my previous 55" rear projection tv and all was well. Recently I decided to upgrade my TV to a Plasma and had to switch the TV to the other side of the room (for flat wall) to hang Plasma, it is there that I ran into a distance problem. I had no signal on most stations except the local stations and the picture quality was snowy.
I looked around for a signal booster and found this Motorola booster, I bought it from Amazon and installed it at the entrance cable line feed. In other words in my attic, where the signal from cable company comes into my home. Then from there split the signal off to my two tv's (Plasma included) the other tv was downstairs and further. I would say one has a distance from the booster of about 50ft and the other of about 75ft. After getting it all connected I was pleased to find that the Plasma was now receiving the HD signal and had greatly improved the standard signal as well. Now I am not saying it improved the standard signal to digital or HD quality, just improved the picture to make it softer and more natural looking on the plasma.
Funny thing is it did not improve the signal to the bedroom tv, but then that tv is farther and not running HD, so I guess in the long run it improved the TV I was concerned about so I am happy with this purchase and would reccomend to anyone.
Customer Review: The ONLY booster worth buying... Summary: 5 Stars
I must concur with almost every reviewer here, this Motorola 484095-001-00 Signal Booster (Broadband Drop Amplifier) works like a charm!! BUT... as mentioned in other reviews, it's IMPORTANT to know how to hook it up correctly.
Firstly, as with others, when the booster was connected it overdrove my cable modem and the cable modem wouldn't connect. Cable modems are finicky things and need just the right signal amount (usually -15 to +15), so I wound up putting a splitter in BEFORE this signal booster, thereby giving my cable modem "regular" levels.
Secondly, MAKE SURE you install the signal booster AT THE POINT OF ENTRY for your cable. Usually you connect the signal booster with the cable in cable, then the output from the booster goes into your splitter and from there you feed your televisions. This method WORKS. Please save yourself A LOT of aggravation by not connecting the booster at the end near the television. You will have no noticeable improvement. BUT.. by putting it at the point of entry and feeding your entire line, you WILL see an improvement.
Thirdly, LABEL ALL CONNECTIONS... this way you will save yourself a lot of aggravation. Especially if later on you want to swap out the cable company's standard splitter and put in a Monster Cable splitter (which I also recommend for CLEAN signal splits).
Motorola definitely has an EXCELLENT product in their 484095-001-00 Signal Booster.
Customer Review: Totally Solved my Problems Summary: 5 Stars
First off, I've purchased in the past signal boosters which claim somehow to increase signal strength that don't plug into an electrical outlet, so although I was pretty sure this was powered, the three coax links in the photo, without the plug pictured, led me to wonder. But, I was pretty sure there this was what I was looking for, so I purchased it.
So, here was my problem. My digital cable comes into the wall of my living-room, and although the television in there received the signal just fine, the line had to be run across the apartment, split at the bedroom, and run further to the office (all around the curves of the walls). At the office in the back, the signal, especially the HD ones, were incredibly weak - to the point where almost all of my HD channels were unwatchable.
After connecting this booster, the difference was incredible. I connected this after the split from the wall to the living room, before the bedroom - and this wasn't just a small improvement, it was a total improvement. All problems completely solved - every channel now available in perfect clarity. I am fairly confidant that had I needed to run this cable three times the length I did, it wouldn't make a difference - this would keep the picture clear as day.
For the price, this device cannot be beat. If you're experiencing loss of signal quality after a long run coax cable line, look no further.
Customer Review: Do you see dropped connectivity with your cable modem? This will fix it! Summary: 5 Stars
In April of 10 I bought my first home. The previous owner complained that they had to switch from cable to DSL/Satellite because of spotty reception. He said the modem would drop connection all the time and the local cable provider, Comcast, couldn't/would't do anything about it.
I spent my first week in the house rerunning and re-wiring cable. I finally got it so every room now had the proper cable connection and the TV's would work. I plugged my cable modem up in my office, upstairs, and, wa-la, it worked... for about a day. I then began seeing very odd things - the cable modem would drop connectivity to the cable provider, the lights on the modem would flash in odd orders. It would come and go; some days it would happen at 10am, sometimes at 4 in the afternoon. No rhyme or reason to it at all.
I then decided to give this a try. I figured, "what the heck, it's less than $40, what's it going to hurt?" This little beauty fixed all my problems and I haven't had a single drop since.
For ANYONE who has their cable modem not running on a direct line into the house and experiences any kind of connectivity drop, requiring you to call the cable provider every other day, this is your fix. I am 100% sold on this and I'm going to be adding a 4 port unit to the connection coming into the house in my shop in the basement.
This is a definite MUST BUY!
Customer Review: Changed my life Summary: 5 Stars
First of all this is the same booster used by my cable company. Have one in my basement. I have a 25 year old TV upstairs in my bedroom that did not have a cable converter. Only picked up a handful of channels which was fine. Last week I get a notice that due to an upgrade in service, any TV without a converter box was going to be rendered totally useless. So I went to the cable store picked up a box and installed it. I got a handful of channels but most were scrambled. Knew this was coming because the upstair wiring is over 25 years old
( Installed it myself when I put a second story on) Called cable and they did a system check and confirmed what I knew ---insufficient signal. Checked the name of the booster installed by Cable years ago and ordered it on line through Amazon. Got delivered the next day. Got home- installed it (10 minutes) and rebooted the cable converter. All the channels started up best picture and sound I've had on that TV in over 20 years and then I dared-Channel 145-the Golf Channel. Now if left to my own devices, I could watch the Golf Channel all day and night. And here it was for the first time in perfect picture and sound right in my upstairs bedroom !!! , . Now I can watch it with the timer on when I go to sleep and in the morning when I shower and get ready for work...The heck with work.
Thank You ! Thank You! Thank You! Motorola
