i've got one jack in my apartment and i need 8 cable line feeds (3 tv's, 3 vcr's, 1 tivo and cable internet) and the lines needed to be split 6 ways to sunday. landlord wouldn't allow a new jack to be installed so i had to figure something else out. the signal in some rooms were totally unwatchable so i had to disconnect a few things just to strenghten the signal. it improved a bit but not by much.then i heard about this booster. decided to check it out and made the purchase at circuit city. i didn't expect the $80 price tag but figured if it didnt give me what i wanted i could always return it and get a refund. i found it in the internet area and at the time i wasnt aware that it could also boost cable modem speeds as well. so i get it home and connect everything.
wow... perfect signals thru out my home. then i reconnect all of my signals the way i originally planned and there was no degrading of the perfect signal at all. the completely unwatchable channels on my girlfriends tv (the ones that she records her soaps on) are now as clear and vivid as they can possibly be. even boosted my internet speed from an average of 3200 down to an average of about 4300 down.
i picked this up saturday the 20th. sunday i had a couple friends over who have similar issues with their cable. after seeing my improvements they went out that day and bought signal boosters.
for me this was an excellent purchase. did exactly what i wanted it to do and even more considering i didnt buy it because of its capabilities with boosting cable internet... which it seems to do very well. i highly recommend this product.

This signal booster works fantastic, especially paired with the the Philips SDV2940/27 UHF Digital and Analog Indoor/Outdoor TV Antenna. I used to get pixilation on a few channels and now everything is fantastic. Here's a copy of the review for the antenna which explains what I did.
The antenna is compact, looks great, and works fantastic. The included signal amplifier from the Philips TV antenna is not very powerful and the coax cable is low quality. I would recommend using the Motorola Signal Booster 484095-001-00 Bi-Directional RF Amplifier (includes 2 quality coax cables) with a quality splitter like the Monster Standard 1GHz RF Splitter For CATV Signals MKII - 2 Way RF Splitter (or anything else under $10). I bought a great 1 GHz splitter at Home Depot for under $10 as well. You do not need to purchase the more expensive Motorola Signal Boosters with built-in splitters. Just buy the splitter separate, it does the same job and you won't have signal loss through any unoccupied sockets.
Most importantly, make sure you reorient your antenna by displaying the signal strength of the weakest channel and adjust it to the highest signal on your TV by going into the TV signal setting menu.
Then, you'll need to rescan for more channels on your TV. If you are using Windows Media Center you'll need to do the following ~ Media Center/Tasks/Settings/TV/TV Signal/Scan for more channels, then Digital TV Antenna Signal Strength, then finally Set Up TV Signal
Now you'll have a great TV experience without having to purchase a bulky and ugly looking antenna.

After having the cable guy come out twice and telling me I could not get a better signal because I had too much equipment hooked up to the cable. I went down to the main office of the cable company and they said I needed a booster so I had another guy come out, but he came out without one and again telling me I had too many things on the cable line. Most of my high def channels were not coming in and I was getting a lot of artifacts on my digital channels, and my RoadRunner speed was only 500 bps and I was upset to say the least. I checked Circut City for a Cable Booster and they had this model for $50, then I for the heck of it checked Amazon and they had it for $38 with free shipping, well a no Brainer! I hooked it up right where my cable came into the house then to the first splitter and Whamo, all my high def channels came in, no more artifacts and my RoadRunner speed went from 500 bps to 4.5 mbps WOW! I am one happy camper! Boy if you have low signal strength this is the answer. I think if I had complained enough the cable company would've put one on, but instead of horsing around any longer with them I got the Motorola Signal Booster and my problems were over. I want to add that you must have high quality splitters and cable. The first thing I did was replace all my store bought splitters and cable with the cable company's equipment and that made a small improvement just doing that. I have 3 TV's, one a high def, two DVR's, two VCR's and RoadRunner hooked up for a total of 8 connections with two 4-way splitters and they are all getting a strong signal now.Customer Review: Works better than I had hoped

Currently I have my main cable line from the street splitting into a line that goes under the house (this goes to my cable modem) and one that goes into the attic. The line in the attic then splits again to go to the two TV's in the house that I use. One TV uses an HD DVR box, the other uses a regular digital cable box which is on the opposite side of the house away from the cable line.
After continually being frustrated with the cable reception at my back TV, I called my cable company. Most of my higher channels would pixelate and more than a few wouldn't come in at all. They came out and replaced one of my cables that was RG5.9 with RG6 yet it still didn't help the bedroom reception. I then purchased a cable booster at Radio Shack. It did absolutely nothing. I didn't notice a single bit of difference.
I then read about the Motorolla Signal Booster. After all the positive reviews I decided to give it a shot. I hoped it would help the signal to at least clear up the channels that were pixelated. I installed the booster after the first split from the main line, but before the second split going to my two TV's. I plugged it in and to my surprise it worked PERFECTLY!! I now receive every channel I'm supposed to and I have not had a single bit of pixelation on ANY of my channels. I plan on moving the booster and put it before the first split to see if it boosts my cable modem speed at all, although I do get a good download speed without the booster already.
Bottom line is that this thing works great!

This device has greatly improved the signal for my cable TV and eliminated problems from a low quality feed. Previously the picture on several of my hi-def channels would drop out, freeze, or show fuzzy blocks instead of the normal picture. This was especially irritating when watching football or basketball in hi-def. In fact I was ready to cancel my cable service and switch to FIOS or Satellite.
I installed this signal booster three weeks ago and it has eliminated the problems. When I run diagnostics on the TV, the signal strength, error rate, and SN ratio show significant improvement. I still do have an occasional complete outage thanks to less than wonderful cable service, but a booster can't fix that! (Luckily this has not happened during a game)
Installation was easy; it consisted of disconnecting the existing cable feed input and output at the splitter and then reconnecting them to the booster and then connecting the output from the booster back into the splitter. That took about five minutes. ONE NOTE: YOU DO NEED AN AC OUTLET WITHIN A FEW FEET TO POWER THE DEVICE. In my case the cable box was on the outside wall of the garage, and the ac outlet was inside, so I simply drilled a small hole (approximately 3/8" diameter) in the wall and ran the power line through that to the booster. That took about ten minutes. It's a simple item, but you need to be aware of it.
Overall I am pleased and would recommend this device if you have marginal signal quality, it made big difference on mine!
