I want to start off by saying that so far the Monster FM transmitter has been awesome from the moment I plugged my Samsung P3 to both my 03 Mustang and 83 Bucket Corolla. I've had a good amount of experience with two other FM transmitters. The very first FM transmitter I ever purchased was a Kensington FM transmitters which I used with my iPod Mini (1st Generation). It wasn't digital but it did the job perfectly with a strong FM signal and little or no disturbances from the local radio waves. Keep in mind that my travels ranged from Downtown LA to Santa Monica, Culver City, West Covina, Alhambra on a daily route and at the time the original Kensington FM transmitters was the best. Of course with everything time took its toll on it and it stopped working. Later on, as I upgraded my iPod to the 3rd Generation iPod Mini, I also purchased another Kensington product. This time around I bought the Kensington RDS FM Digital Transmitter. It had all the bells and whistles one could imagine and was not limited to a few presets like the original Kensington FM transmitters I had. Well my experience with the Kensington RDS FM transmitter was horrible and many times unbearable. I had been greatly disappointed as to the quality, build, and signal of this product, nothing like its predecessor. It had so many issues with FM signal transmission, I would find myself consistently tuning/changing the channel to find a good signal. Connection to the iPod was also an issue as it would recognize it and flash its UI on the screen and other times it would crash my iPod or just not recognize it at all. On and off the Kensington RDS FM failed and for the price I paid at the time I thought I was paying for a quality product. Eventually, it started to break from daily use and I had to throw it out (less than a year).
Now I know I went off subject here with other products but I felt my review would be more helpful if my fellow buyers knew where I was coming from and how I was comparing the Monster FM transmitter. Like I started saying the Monster FM transmitter has been awesome from the moment I plugged it in. It gives strong reception in almost every channel I've tried it, bear in mind I have a shorty antenna installed in my Mustang. I'm not going to sugar coat it either, there are some channels where I can hear some static or hiss but it's very minimal and only audible when the MP3 player is changing to the next track. Let's be real no FM Transmitter is going to be 100% clean but the Monster FM transmitter comes close. The transmitter is intuitive in its design, the 12volt plug has a visible red colored `M' on it to indicate it's on, and the transmitter also has big buttons and clear dimmable LED display. Setting/finding a preset on the dial is straightforward and easy to set. The transmitter kills all incoming FM transmissions almost instantly. I would definitely recommend this product to anybody because it works, price is reasonable (I know it fluctuates from time to time on Amazon), and is solidly built. I give it 5 stars. I hope this helps potential buyers and if you have doubts, don't because I did but this product has surprised me time and time again on how great it works.
