Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Monster PGL400 CVAA-10 Component Video with RCA Audio Cable Kit (10 feet)Customer Review: PS2 can look great on HDTV with these Summary: 4 Stars
I have a PS3 and a HDTV, but I keep my PS2 active and included in my AV setup. I was using the stock PS2 cable, but could not use the progressive scan feature available in many PS2 games. Seems the composite connections won't support prog. scan (at least on my set), and the difference is big on a HDTV. These cables did the trick! Very high quality, and very long as well. Running your PS3 in component cleans up the picture, and being able to use the progressive scan makes it look even better. If you use your PS2, get these before they disappear forever.
Customer Review: Awesome Quality, but Sadly the Connection is Insecure Summary: 3 Stars
Sorry guys, but it turns out that what I heard from another reviewer somewhere or other turned out to be true - these component cables from Monster don't securely fit into the slot on the back of the PS2. This really surprised me, because they're like designed exactly for the PS2, I mean one would think! But don't get me wrong, the image produced whilst connected seems very excellent to me. I haven't compared the quality with that produced by the Sony brand, but I imagine it's very comparable, just like you've heard from other reviewers. But the real problem is that the connection simply doesn't feel right - they'll technically fit into the PS2 slot, but it only takes a slight nudge to wrest them out of place and have your colors suddenly go out of whack or the screen to just turn blank. If this happens you simply have to reach behind and jangle the connection a little until your colors display properly again, and this shouldn't happen very often as long as you aren't violent with your PS2 - but it feels like an unnecessary pain when they could have just designed the jack to fit securely, tightly, properly into the PS2 slot. So again, may not matter for most, but in my situation, it's especially bad because I frequently switch the display cable between 2 different PS2s (I got a second slim model for cheap because my first one stopped reading CDs and PS1 games), and I don't want to worry about positioning the cable exactly right with it's flimsy connection every time I do the move. It would be nice if they fit like clockwork, like they're supposed to - like I suspect the Sony brand ones do. Nothing necessarily for or against Sony, but the fact that it's their console leads me to believe that their component cables will probably fit perfectly.
Oh yeah, and the component side of the cable does the opposite - it fits way TOO securely onto the component jacks of your TV! One side too flimsy, the other side you have to strain yourself to take them back off! Again, really not a big deal, but just unnecessary, and inconvenient for anyone who plans to be mobile & have a quick setup for their PS2, or who frequently switches cables.
I also saw some pictures that a guy had taken of his cables of this design which had broken (sorry, don't have the links at the moment) - and the wiring inside the component heads seemed very thin. Just something to keep in mind if trying to determine whether these are really that much better than cheaper brands; component wiring by any other name would be just as thin... So to speak. Anyway, that's my take
Customer Review: Frustrating Problem Summary: 3 Stars
I get the feeling by reading the other reviews that I may have simply gotten a bum cable. I spent close to $60 on this, rather than the much less expensive - and also less sturdy-looking - Sony component cable. I bought it believing I was getting the best - as one reviewer noted the shielding on this cable ought to be incredible, as the cable is very thick.
The problem I've been having since I got it is that the the color spectrum would fade in and out during use - that is the reds would turn a deep brown, the yellows to white, and the blues to grey. At first I thought it was the component port on my Sony XBR TV, or worse, maybe the way the signal was processed by the TV itself, or still perhaps the PS2. Everything worked fine hooking up with the lousy composite cable (although on a 60" XBR, you can really tell the difference!). Long story short, I tried switching out PS2's and component ports then I tried switching my DVD player to the port used for the PS2 - it worked flawlessly. I didn't have another HD TV with component jacks to test the cable in. So it was down to the cable or the signal processing on the TV end. The cheaper and easier test was to simply get the standard Sony component cable and try that first. So I did and it now works perfectly and I can play without the insane color shifting!
I understand a little about electronics and signals, and all I can think was that in some way my cable was defective and improperly shielded. I gave this cable 3 stars on the merits of the other reviews, understanding that it may be an isolated incident. I would just think that for the crazy prices we pay for premium cables these days, their quality department would look them over better before they go out the door.
Customer Review: Very Tight Fit. Summary: 3 Stars
We bought 2 sets of these for our girls' PS2. While it's true the quality is greatly enhanced with the use of these cables, that's only a true story if you can actually get them on. The cables fit so tightly, we thought we may break the PS2.
Be aware that you will have to be able to bench about 250lbs if you purchase these cables.

Customer Review: AVOID AT ALL COSTS...READ WHY Summary: 1 Stars
As *several* other reviewers have noted, there is a serious problem with getting these cables connected into the television. The PS2 connector clicked in smoothly, but getting the 5 cables into your televison can cause some nice damage. In order to get these things connected, you have to force them on so hard that it can easily bend/break the cable pin or input slot on the T.V. I am not exaggerating; I literally had to have a friend hold the front of the T.V. in place while I used all my strength to force the cables into the back. After one hour (yes, one hour) of twisting, turning, sweating and pushing, I managed to get 4 or the 5 cables in. The fifth cable just would not fit. Period. No matter what. No matter who tried. Extremely agitated, I called it a night. This morning, I tried to get that last cable in again, but IT DOES NOT FIT, NO MATTER HOW HARD I FORCE IT. I finally came to the conclusion that these cables do more harm than good, so I'm going to return them.
Now here comes the good part of my story. I start taking out the 4 cables I managed to squeeze in so I could return this nightmare-of-a- product. Believe me, they are just as tough to take out as they are to get in. Since these cables are so INCREDIBLY tight, THE INPUTS WERE RIPPED RIGHT OUT OF THE T.V. ALONG WITH THE CABLES. So now I have 4 cables with televison inputs stuck inside. I needed a WRENCH to pull the T.V. inputs out of the monster cables. Now my T.V. is missing 2 audio and 2 component video connectors because they got torn out while disconnecting these "monster" cables. That is how tight they are. This T.V. is a brand new Samsung, but it's not so new anymore due to the fact that 4 inputs are torn out.
Please, if any good can come out of this, I can warn others not to buy these cables. My story is 100% true. I did not exaggerate anything. Even if you manage to get the cables on, your T.V. is at serious risk of damage when have to take them out.
