Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Monster MP OTG400 BK Outlets To Go 4 Outlet Travel Power Strip (Black)Customer Review: Worked well in Germany Summary: 5 Stars
For all electronics that are dual voltage (most laptop chargers, battery chargers for digital cameras, cell phones, etc. are, but always double check on the unit itself to be sure), this power strip from Monster is a very useful item to bring with you, especially if you're going to be traveling internationally. I used this along with the All-in-One Surge protector from [...] for all the aforementioned chargers and they worked without any problems. If you are going to be using something that is not dual voltage, be sure to buy a converter - I bought the 1600 Watt Converter from the same website - and if you purchase this, definitely remember to buy the #400/Europe Regular Non-Grounded Adapter plug to extend the plug, as most of the outlets that I saw in Germany were recessed! I used the last two for my straightening/flat iron by Bespoke Laboratories purchased from [...] and it worked fine. Hope this helps to anyone who is planning to travel to Europe!
Customer Review: Compact and well constructed Summary: 5 Stars
The self-storing plug cord alone makes this thing a winner -- I hate looping up a twisted extension cord and rubber-banding or twist-tying everything every time you need it. Plus, I seldom really need the "extension" part of an extension cord; all I need is a few more places to plug things in. It's small, relatively light, and is more rugged than most other strips. We charged an iPhone, an iPod and a camera, with one outlet left over.
If traveling abroad, be sure to take a voltage converter and an outlet adapter (preferably one with surge protection).
Note that I've rated this "one star" for protection. If they're meaning surge protection, this strip doesn't have it. But if they mean "the cord wraps around and plugs itself into one of the outlets, protecting them all", then I'd up that rating to 4 stars, because that's what it does (though not quite covering the other outlets completely).
Customer Review: Best Multiple Outlet for Travel, Even Abroad Summary: 5 Stars
Love this thing. Portable, fits wide power 'bricks,' (2 outlets on each side) and the 12" cord rolls over and plugs into itself, so it's really compact in your bag. We bring one grounded and one non-grounded adapter plug as needed for whichever countries we're visiting - e.g. UK uses different plugs than most of Europe, and then we can plug in anything we have from one outlet, which is all you can often find or reach in many hotels, hostels, cafes, trains or other spots you may wish to plug in.
Other multiple outlets we've used have burned out and risked frying our stuff, but this one's traveled with us in Africa, Europe, Asia and N. America, with no problems at all. Well made, compact, lightweight. Goes on every trip for work or play.
Note: It will NOT convert 110 V to 220 V or vice versa - you need to make sure your gadgets work with 220 V before you use this without a converter.
Customer Review: Compact and Effective Power Strip Summary: 5 Stars
This is one compact and useful power strip. I bought this power strip based on all the positive reviews I read on this site. I bought it for carrying it on my India trip. I am currently using the power strip for charging my laptop (100-240 V adapter). I'm using it with the Belkin F8E449 Universal AC Travel Adapter in India (with 220 Volt outlets). The blue light faded after a few days, but I wouldn't care less, because otherwise it seems to work very well. It has 4 outlets that are spaced wide apart even to accommodate bulky adapters. It also has a built-in circuit-breaker with a reset button. It does not have an ON/OFF switch but I didn't need one for my kind of use. The build quality is excellent, and the cord is heavy duty. It is light and the foot long cord wraps around and fits nicely into any laptop bag. I would strongly recommend this for all travelers (domestic or international).
Customer Review: Worth every penny Summary: 5 Stars
I just got back from a 1 year round the world trip and this power cord was invaluable. It allowed me to charge my iPod, camera, mobile phone and use my laptop all from a single outlet and with a single converter.
I traveled in nine countries in Asia, requiring several different adapters (I fried a couple along the way so bring a spare), and this power strip saved me on more than one occasion when my guesthouse/hostel/hotel only provided one outlet!
Also, adapters are bulky, especially when backpacking you don't want to carry three of them! No need with this strip you only need one, and all your US appliances can plug into here. It's also really small and light, and after a year carrying my pack I got really picky choosing what was worth carrying - this power strip was a no brainer to bring along. I just completely love it.
