Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Monster HDMI-400 400 Series HDTV HDMI Cable (2 meters)Customer Review: It works...what else to say Summary: 4 Stars
Yes, it works. Am thinking though that I may have checked out some of the discount brands...half price was good, but still 4-5 times that of the discount brands...

I work in an electronics store that sells these cables. I am required to recommend them to customers when the customer is making a television purchase, Monster brand specifically. Yes, the store makes a profit from the cables, yes, you are getting what you pay for at the higher prices, yes, you will get what you pay for at the lower price. Many people become upset when they see a similar cable (different brand) for a lot less money. I would too at face value, they looked the same. But they are not the same, not on the inside. I am also required by my store to take a considerable amount of training from all manufacturers regarding the products they sell and there are differences between the Monster brand and others. The silver conductors WILL prevent interference from outside signals, whether any of those signals are present in your location is difficult to establish. The gold coating WILL indeed protect your cables from corroding in a high-humidity enviroment (finished basements, schools with lower levels, etc). Gold is a better conductor than aluminum, tin, etc. but I have personally never been able to observe the signal transfer degrade from using one with a different metal. If it's in your living room and your house is not in a high-humidity area, the gold-coating might not be necessary. The nitrogen (N2) gas-injected dielectric preserves the longevity of the cable over longer runs (+16 ft.) but you will not notice this at first between the other brands and the Monster brand, this is something that will occur over time. Other brands will not hold up as long as these cables because they are a high quality product, plus, Monster offers the Lifetime Guarentee. Regarding the quality of picture, yes, 1's and 0's are 1's and 0's but most other brands are NOT capable of presenting Blu-Ray, PS3 (which is a Blu-Ray player basically), and the very few stations that broadcast in 1080p. In the near future (3-5 years), I anticipate many more stations to broadcast in 1080p. Currently, VERY few do. To summarize, yes, it's a waste to buy these UNLESS you have a Blu-Ray player and a TV capable of 1080p, a Playstation 3, or just want to be ahead of the game on TV for the next 3-5 years. No Blu-Ray? No PS3? Don't care if the cables will be shot after 2-3 years of usage? Then save your money.
Customer Review: Try a lower quality cable before you buy Summary: 3 Stars
Let me start off by saying that like most guys I'm an A/V junkie. Over last five years I've probably purchased over $1000 in Monster Cableİ products. Recently, I picked up a HD cable box from my cable provider. I was so excited to hook-up my new HD-cable box to my high def plasma that went to the closest retailer, Radioshackİ. Now I normally don't shop at Radioshack because the products they sell are of such low quality, but since I was just going to pick up a non-Radioshack product I figured it didn't matter.
So I walk into Radioshack looking to buy the Monster Cable HDMI 400 High Resolution A/V Cable but, of course Radioshack didn't have any in stock. While looking around the store for a possible substitute I came across a $12.99 Radioshack HDMI-HDMI cable. I examined the package carefully looking for some type of official `HDMI(tm)" seal without any luck but, I figured for $12.99 if it doesn't work I only lost a few bucks (besides I could always return it). Suffice it to say the cable works great and I'm enjoying High def television at a fraction of the cost. Now results may vary, so I'm not suggesting that your results will be exactly the same but, I think you should at least try a cheaper cable first and if it doesn't work you can always return it and get a Monster Cable(tm).
One thing to note is that an HDMI signal is all digital so as long as the cable functions I don't think there will be any difference in picture quality. That being said I wouldn't recommend buying low quality cables for analog sources
Customer Review: Great HDMI cable, BUT Summary: 3 Stars
Don't waste your money. I've got this and other cables I bought off ebay for less than $10 INCLUDING shipping. I'm no videophile but honestly my other cables work just as well with NO discernible difference. Just check the feedback ratings and make sure they are over 99.5% and you'll be OK.
If you are a videophile and capable of superhuman feats of visual discrimination beyond other mere mortals such as me AND you have lots of money to waste, then by all means go out and buy this.
Customer Review: RIP off Summary: 2 Stars
So you are at your favorite brick and mortar store, possibly a little nervous as you venture into the bewildering world of HDTV and drown in a sea of acronyms. You just paid thousands of dollars for the latest HDTV. The salesman asks you if you have the right cables to hook everything up and you aren't sure. He grabs a $100 Monster HDMI cable off the rack and... Stop right there!
Monster cables are the biggest ripoffs in the home entertainment industry.
Especially their HDMI cables. HDMI is a digital signal. You either have it or you don't. A cheap $15 generic cable will work just as well. Don't be pressured into buying Monster branded anything! They prey on your ignorance to inflate their profit margins. Don't fall for it!
It's not just my opinion. Type this into Google:
