Customer Review: FALL IN LOVE WITH YOUR MUSIC ALL OVER AGAIN

When I first heard about these headphones several months ago, my immediate thought was that it was yet another overpriced celebrity-endorsed product (despite my adoration of Lady Gaga). But after reading very positive reviews about the product here and elsewhere, I decided to take the plunge and buy myself a pair. And I'm glad I did. This is one well-made piece of electronics and a very well-designed one at that.
First, they sound fantastic. The sound is incredibly well-balanced between treble and bass. The bass is rich but not at the expense of muffling the treble, like some other bass-heavy headphones are prone to do. Treble sounds are crisp and clear. As odd as it may seem, these headphones do bring out an added dimension to the musical experience. Some elements, such as percussion that's far away in the background, seem to move a bit more forward, resulting in richer and seemingly more multi-layered tracks.
While these are not sold as noise-canceling headphones, the ear inserts do a terrific job of keeping out outside sounds. This is both a blessing and a curse: the music sounds richer and you won't need to crank up the volume as much to fully hear the music (definitely a good thing...your eardrums will thank you when you're older), but you will need to pay closer attention to your surroundings if you're going to be strolling around in the city while wearing these.
As an aside, the instructions claim that the headphones were designed with an iPod in mind, and have been specifically engineered to take full advantage of iTunes' Sound Check feature that evens out the volume of one's music library during playback. This is useful if you enjoy a variety of musical styles that range from quiet to raucous.
Second, these babies look cool! I bought mine in bright chrome with the white cord. The flat wide cord is sturdy and tangle-free...no more bird's nests of bunched up wires when it's time to retrieve the headphones from your pocket. The ear buds come with several pairs of ear inserts in various sizes, that way you can customize the fit appropriate for the size of your ear canal. The left and right buds are clearly marked and Lady Gaga's signature appears on the cord's metal band. The set also comes with a removable clothes clip and a matching storage case sporting the same triangular design as on the headphones themselves.
If you have an MP3 player that you only listen to once or twice a year when you go on vacation, this is probably not the purchase for you. But if you put your MP3 player through its paces on a regular basis and you're looking for attractive *and* functional headphones, then these are highly recommended.
