Monster has a rep for making very expensive cables, but there's usually no contest in quality when compared to the competition. I play my xbox 360 through my computer monitor, and my sound comes through my PC's 5.1 surround sound system. Using the optical cable lets my speakers do their thing and bring me great surround sound to all of my games. I originally bought a non-toslink optic cable that didn't fit correctly into my 360's vga adapter. After tweaking with it (All hail scotch tape!) I got some pretty good sound through it for Guitar Hero 2. When I replaced that one with the monster cable, I could actually tell a difference in audio quality. Joe Schmoe probably won't notice it, and instead will use the cable as a chain for his dog or something. Though if you're an audio nut like I am, you can usually tell pretty easily the quality difference in highs and lows, sharpness to notes and sounds. A must-have cable, albeit a tad pricey. Don't let the 1 star "fun rating" confuse you. The only "fun" just the cable itself would deliver is if you used it as a whip and reenacted scenes from Indiana Jones movies.
