Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Monster Cable GCGL300 SV-10 GameCube S-Video A/V Cable (10 Feet)

Customer Review: Definite Improvements
Summary: 4 Stars

I had recently purchased a Samsung LTN 325W flat panel television. As you may/may not know, LCD televisions tend to receive analog signals poorly. That was no exception when I used the standard composite cable provided with the Gamecube and hooked it up directly to the Samsung. I decided to give Monster's S-Video cable a try, and I was fortunately not disappointed. Using an S-Video cable separates the color and brightness of the video signal, allowing it to be processed cleanly and more accurately. In addition, it allows you to utilize the Gamecube's progressive scan output. The result, a sharper, more vibrant picture. Give it a shot with Mario Golf and Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker. There were definitely improvements.

Customer Review: A good SNES cable
Summary: 4 Stars

I bought this cable because I needed something for my PAL SNES. The colours are very crisp and clear (At least on my Samsung SyncMaster 215TW) and the sound is good as well. Individual pixels can be distinguished perfectly. However, this cable works horrible for the PAL N64. The colours are impossibly washed out and overbright, you can barely distinguish colours from each other. PAL Gamecube doesn't give any S-Video output at all, do make note of this. All in all, it does half of what I bought it for excellently.

Customer Review: Good quality
Summary: 4 Stars

The difference between this and the standard composite video cable isn't shocking, but it's worth the small amount of money that these cables now cost, if you have a newer TV.

Cheaper S-video cables are available on the auction sites, but they're junk. These are really well-made.

The only way to get even better picture quality is through Component video cables for your Gamecube, but they're only available through the auction sites, at 5x the price.

Customer Review: If you can't buy a Component Cable, this it's a good option...
Summary: 4 Stars

If you don't want to pay about 80 bucks (or more) for one of the dozen of Component Video Cable available in market then this would be your better second option. Of course, if you can get a component cable for GameCube, give thanks to the Lord and use it, but if you are one of the unlucky, like all of us, who had to buy an alternative, you won't be disappointed ... too much.

Customer Review: Nice cables, but pricey
Summary: 4 Stars

We use this cable set with a N64. The cables feel and work fine. Note that the visual difference between S-video and composite will depend greatly upon the existence and quality of a comb filter in your monitor. With a good (e.g., 3D digital) comb filter in the monitor, you may see little or no difference in picture quality over composite connections.
