This is an excellent book light - works great with my Kindle2. Light is easy to turn on and off, and comes with two brightness settings (Super Nova Bright and Super Bright). Seriously, on my nightstand, this substituted as my bedroom lamp when my power went out.
Product is extremely light weight, so it will not add unnecessary heft to your book. The clip is firm with soft foam padding on the interior (which keeps the clip and the light securely in place). I find that the ideal location for me to clip this to my kindle book and accompanying cover is on the upper right hand corner. The clip does not get in the way of the display and moving the light up so it's not directly over the display prevents the 'sun spot' glare.
This book light requires 3 AAA batteries and also has the option for an external power supply, though the accompanying power adapter is sold separately. I would recommend this to friends and family and will buy a new one if I should ever need to replace my current one.

I love to read in bed....my husband loves to sleep in bed. Therein lies the rub. Having a lamp on while reading is not conducive to his sleeping, so I've tried all sorts of book lights. None of them worked very well.
So, I bought the Kindle (JOY!!) and decided to try their recommended book light. It's the best book light I've ever used! The light is bright enough to cover both pages of a real book, unlike most book lights I've tried. It has two different brightnesses, which comes in very handy...and the clamp doesn't destroy either a paper page, or my Kindle cover since it's nicely covered in felt.
My only negative is that it takes 3 (yes THREE) batteries. I've been using it for a couple of weeks now...about an hour or two a day. So far the batteries are holding up.
I would like to rate this item 4 1/2 stars because of the battery issue, but since I can't give a half star, I'll give all five because it really is a minor complaint given the greatness of this light.

my husband ordered this book light for me...i had given up on finding a book light. for years i have bought book lights and been disappointed repeatedly. one would light up one side of book(and not much light i might add), another would light up half a page, none put out enough light. i had drawers full of book lights. FINALLY...one that works. it lights both sides of book, a long flexiable arm that you can bend very easily. the light is bright yet doesnt disturb my husband at night where i love to read before i sleep. it has 2 different strengths of light simply push a convenient button on head of light and wa...laa.. perfect lighting. can be pointed just right to cover any size material you are reading. i am now a proud owner of two. will be using rechargeable batteries when these run down. also all lights i bought in past lost light power within 1 week of using. been using this for a month now and still putting out fabulous light. my search is over...yeahhh!!! to the trash with all the other book lights!!!Customer Review: Perfect Kindle 2 reading light works with Cole Haan cover too

I bought this Mighty Bright light to read in bed with my Kindle 2. I happened to have gotten the overpriced Cole Haan protective cover as well (which I LOVE) and the light is perfect. It has two settings for brightness which is great, plus it is very flexible so that you can aim the light in varying directions to avoid glare on your Kindle screen very easily. It takes 3 AAA batteries which are not included with the purchase so be prepared to have these at home so you're not disappointed when it arrives and you can't use it right away. If you have the Cole Haan cover the light slides between the cover and the Kindle perfectly and snugly so that reading with the cover in place is easy, which I loved, but even without the Cole Haan cover the light fits on the Kindle easily and the long flexible neck makes it easy to manipulate for reading. I've had several different night lights over the years and this is by far the best I've ever owned, so I bought one for my hubby right away as well.

Works great, no complaints! It adjusts easily so there is no glare on the kindle screen(yes, I use it with my kindle 2 and have not as of yet tried it with a book-book).
It is bright enough that I can read fine with no eye fatigue in a room with no other lights on and it does not seem to disturb my husband nor our six-year-old daughter who often sleeps in our bed(dang!).
It does have a bluish tint to the light, so if you don't like that- this may not be the light for you. For my purpose of reading in bed, it works great and weighs next to nothing. Quite handy. I believe you could probably find a number of book light products out there that would work similarly. I agree that this isn't necessarily specialized for the Kindle, simply compatible. I do wonder if other types of lights might create more glare on the screen possibly?
Very helpful when reading while hiding in the closet from your screaming children. (Uh, just kidding. Ha. Ha. Hrm.)
