Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Mighty Bright XtraFlex2 Clip-On Light (Black, Kindle Version)Customer Review: A great little light that surpassed my expectations Summary: 5 Stars
The Mighty Bright XtraFlex2 Clip-On Light not only serves the needs of the Kindle user well, but it can be used anywhere where a small, flexible light is needed. This past week, in cleaning my gas cook-top, a small piece of wet paper towel became lodged in an area beneath the grate and beyond where I could see it. At first I tried using a small Magna Lite, but it was still too large and cumbersome to get the proper angle of light I needed. Then, I spied my MBFX2 and the flexibility and brightness made it ideal to see and finally remove the offending fire hazard. It is also perfect for lighting my Kindle screen and I love that it has 2 levels of brightness, as sometimes the lower light level is all you need when there is enough ambient light or if you're reading in bed and eventually want to nod off. In additon, the flexible neck is wonderful for angling the light to eliminate glare and keep the lighted area contained to prevent complaints from anyone sleeping next to you. I'm planning on purchasing another MBFX2 for a friend of mine who's had to settle for using a mini miner-type headlamp when she reads in bed at night. She's going to love it!
Customer Review: The best light of this type I've used Summary: 5 Stars
I bought the Mighty Bright after seeing it linked to a Kindle ad. The Kindle is still way too expensive for me, but the light is very nice. I use it to illuminate my keyboard during early morning or night sessions. I use a Wacom pen tablet beneath the monitor with a compact keyboard off to the side in the darkness. I had an illuminated keyboard that became disfunctional after a year, so looked for a less expensive alternative to use with my un-lit compact keyboard. I also use it to clamp onto a book for night reading in bed, and to replace the candles I've used for journal writing at the kitchen counter during the wee hours. It preserves the cozy atmosphere I enjoy for those introspective activities. The batteries are holding up fine after a month of regular use. I find the difference between the high and low settings slight, so use low most of the time.
I've used USB flex-stem lights that plug into the back of the compact keyboard, but the two I tried began to flicker and died within 2 months, and they didn't have the light coverage or portability of the Mighty Bright. I'll be getting one or two more, I'm sure.
Customer Review: Best Book Light Ever! Summary: 5 Stars
My husband is almost blind and has to read with the book about 4 inches from his face. Other book lights either got in the way or had to be constantly repositioned for him to be able to see the page.
This light is very lightweight, super-flexible and lights up both pages of a paperback book & stays out of his face. It is the only booklight he has ever liked and we've tried at least 6 others.
He is thrilled with it. The two intensities aren't really necessary for regular books, but it's still nice to have.
I'm planning to buy the AC adaptor so that he can use it without wearing out the batteries, but they do last quite a while anyway.
I have an off-brand that I bought somewhere that is similar, but not nearly as nice.
Can't recommend this booklight highly enough!
Update 12/26/07:
Still loving this light. I found their website and they are available there in different colors at a comparable price. If you spend 32 dollars the shipping is free and they have all the accessories as well as their craft and musician lights. Excellent!
Customer Review: BEST BOOKLIGHT of all time Summary: 5 Stars
I have been on a multi-year search for the BEST BOOKLIGHT EVER.
I have always loved to read in bed or on airplanes, with never enough light to comfortably read a book. For years I have wasted money on products that were bad in the following ways:
-clunky
-expensive
-little light
-no multiple light settings
-small range of light
or - used expensive little batteries (like watch batteries)
This MightyBright is the booklight to end all booklights. It has a 2 setting (high and low) light settings with two powerful LED lights that emit a wide range of light. It also uses three little AAA batteries that are cheap and replaceable. It is a slightly larger than ideal back with clip, but it is light weight, and fits on the back of the Kindle's leather case nicely. I have put it on a number of other books and it seems to work well on most hardcover books. On paperbacks, I would recommend attaching it to a chunk of pages to keep it still while reading.
I have awarded a winner: MightyBright- the world's BEST BOOKLIGHT
Customer Review: Great well built light Summary: 5 Stars
This is my 3rd - and the best by FAR book light that I have owned.
The first one had a separate battery pack for 4 C cell batteries. There was a small cord that connected the pack to the light. Needless to say, the back was cumbersome and the wire eventually broke from wear.
The second one was from Sharper Image. Much more portable, but the battery door broke within the first 3 months. I tried to tape the door closed, but I was never able to keep battery contact for the light to work.
I found this light by searching for bestselling book lights. At first I thought it was only meant for the Kindle because of the reviews. Don't be mislead this works very well with "traditional books" too!
It's constructed very well. The flexible neck is long enough to cover big hardbacks in bright light. The dual level light is a nice touch, but I'm not sure if I'll ever use it.
In short, if you need a light to read in low light conditions. Buy this one. Especially if you willing to trade portability for construction.
