In the reviews I read, several people complained about ease of operation. As long as you can learn your way around 3 buttons, all functions are readily available. It did take a couple of practice sessions to learn. Transmission and reception are exactly what you would expect from a hand held unit of 5 watts. Wonderfully small size and weather channels are both big pluses. Rechargeable battery pack OR 3 AA batteries is versatile.
