Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of MIDLAND WR300 Weather RadioCustomer Review: I Would Never Be Without This Monitor!!! Summary: 5 Stars
[[ASIN:B00009V2YV Midland WR-300 AM/FM Weather/All Hazards/Civil Emergency Alert Monitor with S.A.M.E.
I didn't have one of these when a Tornado Warning was issued for our County. The Tornado did in fact come through our City. I have never been so terrified in my entire life! It didn't hit my house, but I felt the effects of it and could hear the horrific winds and debri hitting the house. It even felt like the house rocked back and forth a bit, but thank God, it didn't do any damage.
I never realized the importance of having a Monitor such as this,---but I do now and I would NEVER be without one. It gives me peace of mind knowing that if there's a Tornado approaching, it will sound the alarm.
This unit is well worth the money and could save lives. I love all the features it has to offer. After surfing the Net for the best deal, this was it for me.
Customer Review: My favorite WX radio ever Summary: 5 Stars
I have owned this radio for two years. It has a sensitive WX receiver, and the FM broadcast has decent sensitivity as well. The AM broadcast is usable for medium to strong signals--but in a metropolitan area you might get strong nearby signals overriding more distant stations.
The WX part really works well. I like that it notifies you if it hasn't received the weekly test--so you're not inadvertently "in the blind" if the radio was moved into a bad reception spot. The SAME code selection allows for a lot of options, and the alarm override is a really key feature.
As far as the battery backup via four AA batteries, I accidentally unplugged the radio for a week, but the batteries still kept it going, although they were low after a week.
Highly recommended, and I have used several models of weather radios over the past decade and this is my favorite.
Customer Review: Awesome Weather Radio! Summary: 5 Stars
I purchased this Midland weather radio in April of 2009 and absolutely love it. It has excellent reception as I have put it to the test in my area. I don't even have the antenna fully extended and it receives perfect for a distant station. Always alerts to the weekly test tones with my county's S.A.M.E. code programmed. Programming is fairly easy. All you need is your county's S.A.M.E. code and you can find that online easily. Lights up with alerts and is easily reset. The only thing I didn't like as well is that once reset, it does not keep the warning or watch info scrolling on the display like older models, however the watch or warning light does stay lit until the NWS cancels it. This is a great radio to alert you and your family to severe weather or civil emergencies. Every household should have a weather alert radio the same as smoke and carbon monoxide detectors.
Customer Review: Weather radio is a life saver Summary: 5 Stars
We live in the country where we generally don't get good reception. Most storms seem to happen during the night when we are sleeping so we bought the weather radio to warn us of an approaching storm during the night. It has been great not only during the night but also during the day when we aren't paying attention to what the weather is doing. We know how far away the storm is and when we need to take cover. It has also been great when our Direct TV goes out and we can't get the weather to see what is happening. It also has battery back-up incase the electricity goes off. We have gotten really good reception with the radio. This is the third weather radio we have bought and this brand has worked the best where as the other two either didn't get good reception or quit working after the first year. We really like the Midland WR300 Weather radio and glad we bought it.
Customer Review: Midland WR-300 - an excellent safeguard for your home Summary: 5 Stars
Having had no success trying to program the Midland 100, I was very pleased to find the WR-300 extremely easy to program. Since the primary feature I was interested in was the ability to program the unit so that alerts would only go off when my County was endangered, ease of programming was a big item with me. Clarity of reception is excellent. You can choose which alerts to which you want the unit to respond (here in Florida I turned Winter Storm Warning off) as well. Using 2 AA batteries, you can ensure protection even if power to the house is off. The LCD display is easy to read, giving a brief description of the type of alert when one is issued. I have recommended this unit to several others, all of whom are happy with it (we had a tornado watch within days of purchasing the unit). I would definitely recommend this alert radio as an excellent purchase.
