Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Microsoft Wireless Mobile Mouse 3000 - PurpleCustomer Review: Great For The Money Summary: 5 Stars
Very easy to set up and use. Just plug it in and go. Nice battery saving feature.
Customer Review: Girl Gamer with a Purple Mouse Summary: 4 Stars
This is a great little mouse. I was looking for a reasonably priced (somewhere around $10-$20) mouse to use with my MacBook Pro for when I'm gaming.
The things I love about this mouse:
1. Reasonably Priced
2. Wireless
3. Has a slot on the mouse's base for the USB receiver to 'clip' into when not in use. (Keeps it neat and safe. No losing it at the bottom of your bag!)
4. The battery is shut off once the USB receiver is removed from your computer and placed back in the storage slot.
5. The battery meter on the top of the mouse lets you know when your battery is getting low.
6. The rubberized-feel on the sides of the mouse help you keep your grip. This is especially useful when gaming or using software like Photoshop that is "mouse intensive".
The things that I'm "meh" about:
1. I don't use the dedicated back button, but I can see how that would be a handy feature.
2. The scroll wheel is a little stiff. I don't know if it's just the mouse I got, or because it's new, or if it will loosen a little with use.
For those of you who are buying this because you specifically want a purple mouse, please note that the actual color of the mouse has a slight metallic finish and has more pinky-red undertones in the purple, rather than being the rich royal purple color that appears in stock item photos here. Not a big deal, but worth noting if you're picky about this sort of thing.
All in all, this little mouse fits the bill for my current needs, and for the price it's hard to beat. Very satisfied with my purchase.
Customer Review: Pretty Good. Summary: 4 Stars
This is a very nice mouse! 5-stars for usage. Easy! Comfortable! I like not having a wire across my desk. I got the purple/black one, which looks really good, too.
The Con: You can only turn the it off by putting the USB receiver into the mouse. I have the receiver plugged into a USB hub with my printer, external backup drive, etc. When I bring my laptop home from classes, I plug the whole hub into my computer. So with my set-up, I can only turn the mouse off by taking the receiver off the hub, which I don't want to do. I've been popping the battery cavity of the mouse open when I'm not using it, which has been an okay alternative.
The old version of this Microsoft mouse was switch operated. When you clicked the USB receiver into the mouse it would turn the mouse off, but you could also just flick the switch manually without the receiver. I think they should have kept this method for people who want to use this mouse in a stationary set-up.
Review Update: Mouse died in January after 3 months of use. This mouse is under warranty for 3 years, and Microsoft support was VERY helpful and easy. If your mouse breaks, call the Microsoft "Supplemental Parts Team at (800) 360-7561. They are available Monday - Friday, 5:00 A.M. - 7:00 P.M. Pacific Time". Six minutes on the phone and I should have a new mouse in 3-5 business days.
Customer Review: Average wireless mouse for a good price Summary: 4 Stars
I've owned this mouse for about seven months now.
PROS
1) It is a wireless mouse. This is very useful regardless of what kind of setup you have, because cords will always move with the mouse and can be a hassle.
2) It comes in cute colors! :P
3) Uses a laser instead of a ball. Much more efficient, quieter, easier to clean and less likely to break.
4) Clickable scroll wheel, makes scrolling a breeze. Click on it when hovering over a link to open pages in a new tab or to close another one.
5) Batteries last an acceptable amount of time (about 3-4 months for me, moderate to heavy usage)
6) Excellent price for a wireless mouse.
CONS
1) Back button under the scroll wheel. I do not use this and have accidentally hit it a few times. Annoying to me personally but if you like the idea of having that button on your mouse then you'll probably like it. Microsoft sells mice similar to this one without that button if you are interested. I just bought this model because it had been on sale.
2) Scroll click often double-clicks instead of single.
3) Mouse clicks don't always register. This happens somewhat often.
4) Mouse will not work more than three feet away from its USB receiver. Length accurately measured with a tape measure. YMMV.
Customer Review: Didn't work but replacement was fast Summary: 4 Stars
I received this in a timely manner. However upon trying to use it; it was dead. It comes with batteries, which I changed thinking they were dead. However all the lights went on, but the mouse was not recognized on my laptop. I tried it in a friends laptop and it didn't recognize it either. I got ahold of Amazon and within 3 days I had a replacement mouse. I printed a free shipping label to return the defective one (which i had a month to do but did right away so i wouldn't forget...otherwise I would have been charged for a second mouse.)
Pros of this mouse: lightweight; small; scroll wheel; reset button on the mouse and the usb connection; great color; long battery life if you disconnect it when not using; the usb connection attaches to the mouse when not in use; Durable; this is my second Microsoft cordless laser mouse. I tended to drop the first one off the couch armrest ALOT, and it still worked. I finally dropped it one too many times and the response slowed down on it and gradually stopped working; Good price.
Cons: the usb connection is a bit long which makes it easy to catch on things which starts the light flashing on it meaning the connection isn't good; so i find myself having to push the reset button more than I'd like. But it's not a deal breaker.
