Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Microsoft Wireless-G Xbox AdapterCustomer Review: Works for Xbox 360 - but need to set up on original Xbox. Summary: 5 Stars
I used this on my Xbox 360 as a cheap alternative to the 360 specific USB wireless adaptor.
I had to set it up using my original Xbox, then moved it to my 360.
Set up on the original Xbox is extremely easy - I didn't even use the included set up disk. Set your wireless network on broadcast, have your security key and the Xbox will walk you thru the process. Once it works on the Xbox, move it to your 360, go to the dashboard, check connection and go.
A smaller concern might be wireless network security as it only supports older standards.
Customer Review: works great with modded XBox Summary: 5 Stars
This works wonderfully right out of the box with a modded (evoX) XBox, linked to a Linksys WRT54G. I originally tried to use the Linksys Wireless Game Adapter, which really sucked and never worked. Took a chance on this thing, worried that it would not be configurable enough with the network. Piece of cake. And 30-50 dollars cheaper than the Game Adapter. It found the network just fine and can now transfer files back and forth from the XBox from both the wireless PC and the Mac on our network via FTP. Hate to say it, but a really nice experience from MS.
Customer Review: when all else fails Summary: 5 Stars
I worked with xbox live for hours trying to get my wireless xbox up. Finally they refered me to microsoft and they resolved it in 10 minutes. The first thing I think you should do when you get the xbox gaming adapter is to go to microsoft, download any updates, unplug your computer from the internet and plug in the rj45 from the adapter into the computer and download the new software. It was up and running 3 minutes later. Now my only problem is when someone is on xbox live, no one can use the internet on the computer!!!
Customer Review: It works, but security is tricky Summary: 5 Stars
This is the only product I know of that works with the X-Box. It's overpriced, but it does work well. I am all for less clutter so the price was worth it for me.
The only issue with this device is you cannot change the security channel. What I mean is that I like to have my 128bit key on channels 2,3 or 4 but you MUST use channel 1 for this to work with your router (and your router must also have its 128bit key on channel 1).
Other than that, this is another fine hardware product from Microsoft.
Customer Review: Microsoft does it again with their Xbox Summary: 5 Stars
Let me start off my stating that I've had bad hardware experiences with Microsoft. From their wireless optical mice, keyboards, and just recently their 802.11G card for the computer. All of the products mentioned I have had serious problems with. However, I am plesently surprised with the way that the XBOX adapter is working. I have a netgear wireless G router and this adapter runs smoothly off of it. There is little to no lag. Set up is a snap and I highly reccomend this product to anyone looking to play on XBOX live.
