Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Microsoft Sidewinder Precision Pro JoystickCustomer Review: solid joystick Summary: 4 Stars
I've had mine for a while now and after all this time and abuse, it still works just like new. Wish newer joysticks were as good. As for anyone saying that this will not work in windows xp, they're dead wrong. If you attach it to a gameport, just add it through the game controllers interface in the control panel. If through the accompanying usb dongle, it'll automagically be detected. It works great in all my games new and old.
Customer Review: ms v saitek Summary: 4 Stars
The Microsoft stick is good if you are right handed. The only problem is that the controls are fairly "loose" thus you tend to over control until you learn to be very gentle. Small movements bring large control changes. the Saitek Cyborg 3D is stiffer so easier to control. If you are left handed it is the Cyborg hands down. I did not have any random imput problems with the Cyborg J13 as were reported above.
Customer Review: Microsoft Sidewinder Precision Pro Joystick Summary: 4 Stars
This joystick is a very good stick for the gamer . I fly the Sims and aircraft type games and have used several joysticks. This one is the most accurate I have used. Is sad Microsoft has stopped making them. Cons.....Not enough programable buttons.
Customer Review: Saitek versus Precision Pro Summary: 4 Stars
Saitek and Precision Pro are equal for right handers, but Saitek is far better if you are left handed. I used the precision pro for one year and switched to Saitek because I am left handed.
Customer Review: Great in its day! Summary: 3 Stars
I've owned this stick for years and it always served me well, until the advent of Windows XP and M$'s infinite wisdom in deciding NOT to support XP with the Sidewinder Game Controller software!
Yes, the stick will work with XP just fine, that is if you enjoy erratic and very touchy control in your favorite game.
With the aforementioned software you could control the dead spot in the stick's center (size, etc.), you could control the sensitivity of the stick's movement on all three axis, custom program the buttons, etc.
All of this is now gone and you have a basic, but very good joystick, which has basically been castrated by M$!
I would have given this stick a 5 out of 5 years ago, but under XP and the lack of the software support from M$, I have to drop it down to a 3.
