I still use it today for just about any flight sim demo.
I haven't even bothered looking for an upgrade in the past 5 plus years!!!

I have to state that this stick used to slightly drift to the left in some old DOS games but the problem seems to have disappeared now. DirectX games were never affected cause i guess the drivers had some auto-correct feature going. MMM so Microsoft does seem to do somethings better than they are given credit for :D

The only other gripe i have is that there ought to have been a light to say whether i have engaged the SHIFT function or not. I don't really use the shift button though cause the joystick has more than enough button functions as it is.

Anyway the positives are numerous to the point that these 2 small gripes are more or less insignificant. I got the flightstick for around $65 (Dhs. 250 where i'm at) and I would more or less (hopefully less) pay the same again if there is a USB 2.0 version.

Installing the SideWinder Precision Pro was easy and fast. We simply plugged it into the game port on our sound card, installed the SideWinder Game Controller software, and we were shooting 'em up in no time. The joystick also ships with a USB converter for those using Windows 98 who want fast plug-and-play action.

The completely programmable buttons are a great feature, letting you put the controls exactly where you want them. The SideWinder Precision Pro's ergonomic design feels comfortable in the hand, and the weight and traction on the bottom of the joystick keep it from moving around. We found that the movement of the joystick was a little stiff, which sometimes made it difficult to fully appreciate the games.

If you're looking for the most advanced features and want a truly intense gaming experience, look into getting a force-feedback joystick. But if that's not your cup of tea, the SideWinder Precision Pro is a great joystick at an unbeatable price.
