Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Microsoft SideWinder Game Pad USBCustomer Review: A controller without problems, period. Summary: 5 Stars
This controller works perfectly to my experience. The drivers for it are already on most computers going back to windows 98, so you literally can just plug-in and play! This conroller is shaped-well with very well-placed triggers. The button layout is a bit large but one can get used to it; for 2-D games I cannot imagine a better controller.

Customer Review: One of the best, but not perfect. Summary: 4 Stars
I've had this pad for a few years already. I have never had a problem with any of the buttons not working or wearing out. For $15 it's very durable. I have tried other pads and none of them are as good as, in my opinion, this one. It is very comfortable in your hands, and you just plug it in and play. With some other pads the USB would fall out with just a tap, but with the SideWinder the USB stays in until you pull it out. I only have two complaints. First the top three buttons are smaller than the bottom three, so i accidentally pushed the wrong button sometimes. Also, as is common with gamepads, the D-pad is round, so the directions aren't always precise. Sometimes I'ld be playing Street Fighter or a fighting game and I'ld push down to duck, but it would read me pushing down and forward and i'ld take a hit. It's still one of the best gamepads out there that i have tried. If you can find it at a Wal-Mart it sells for about $15. That's cheaper than most, and it's a good deal.
Customer Review: What can the SideWinder do for you? Summary: 4 Stars
I'll tell you what it can do! Through all of the games I have played, I have not had one conflict and did not have to even calibrate it. It does not come with drivers, although they are found on any "Windows" based system. One game that I thought was not good until I bought this controller was Starfighter made by LucasArts. I stepped up my memory and graphics and found this controller is awesome for this game amoung others such as sports, pinball, plane simulation, and all around fun. I can not comment on 2d fighting games but on 3d games it works wonders. If playing sports however, the controller seems to be a little sluggish, but still very precise. I do not claim to be a microsoft fan but they make a heck of a mouse and controller maker. I got rid of the Logitech Wingman Rumblepad because this SideWinder Outperformed it. I like it, you may not, but I do!
Customer Review: Solid Gamepad Summary: 4 Stars
The major selling points:1. There are lots of buttons, but they are all well-placed, so I rarely hit the wrong one. 2. Even if you have small hands, you can still comfortably use it, meaning it's fine for young adults, women and men. It's also easy to hold and not heavy, yet sturdy. 3. It truly is plug and play: no drivers needed when I loaded it onto a Win98SE, so I assume anything after that will be the same. 4. The price is definitely reasonable. Don't be scared away just because it's Microsoft. It works and it works well. However, I don't suggest you try to use it with a USB hub. I've heard of it having some problems with those. If you stick with a traditional USB slot that plugs right into the board, you'll be fine. This is a safe buy.
