The Lifecam VX-3000 is the first webcam i've bought and it's been nothing short of excellent. My girlfriend is studying in Italy so I bought the cam to chat on skype and have saved hundreds of dollars in my first month using it. I can talk for free with superb audio and video as opposed to buying expensive phone cards. The adjustable clip secures tight to my laptop (IBM thinkpad) despite the odd shape of the upper lip. I'm usually not a huge microsoft fan but this product is sturdy reliable and cheap. A+.Customer Review: camera for skype

very easy setup and installation. quality and ease of use makes this camera a must for anyone who wants to connect with friends and family at a distance. when you can't be there in person at least you can see them. i travel a lot and my wife and i use skype and the camera to connect when i am away. it is a lot of fun to be able to talk and laugh and see her expressions. no guessing on emotions..
i know we will get hours of great use out of this product.

when my grandmother was alive, she wanted to see more of her new grand baby.
but since my sister loves across the country, we cant afford to fly there!
so glad for skype!! when she was alive, she got to see her granddaughter and the baby all the time! she really enjoyed that.
this thing is pretty good, easy as pie to install and has a pretty good microphone.
it sits on top of the monitor and can be focused and moved around as needed.

i was just trying to find a simple webcam to talk to my friends with.. this one works fine... pretty good picture quality that you can adjust... no fuss about installing.. takes a couple of minutes.
The only annoying thing is that you have to set it up on top of your computer which is easy but kind of annoying.. however.. you would have to do this with any webcam so it doesn't really matter
overall I'd say it was worth the money and is working out great for me

I have Windows XP and researched a lot before selecting the Microsoft LifeCam VX-3000. I am very happy with its performance and many of my relatives who also have Windows XP purchased it for our family video connections across the miles. It seemed to have more user controls and settings than the Logitect my parents are using. I only know of people using this camera with Windows XP -- not sure how well it will work with Windows Vista or older Windows 98, etc.
