I bought two of these webcams, based on the reviews I read here. I installed one of them on my son's computer (running Vista Home Premium) so my 5-year-old grandson in Washington state could video call me in Ohio. Installation was a snap. It's so easy--just a push of the button on the webcam, and my grandson's video call comes through on Windows Live Messenger. The image and voice are very clear.
I installed the other one on a computer running XP. Again, installation was problem-free, and my sister is thrilled with how easy it is to use. I recommend this inexpensive little webcam for widespread family members everywhere!

The camera is clear and a wonderful picture. The mic on this camera works superb. I ordered this as a gift and can see my dad perfectly. I want to say if you want a good company to deal with for electronics please deal with these folks at Shes_Got_Electronics. I had a slight issues with the product but this company is a solid company and rectified the company. In my eyes they are a first class, first rate, SOLID company. So order any and all merchandise from this company Shes_Got_Electronics you will be very happy. Shipping was fast and easy too. MS camera is wonderful asset for SKYPE. There's no shortage of reviews here, so I'll just go straight to my particular issue. I got this webcam to use with flash-based webchat sites. When I went to use it, my built-in laptop cam stayed connected, so the new Lifecam didn't get used. I went to a Windows 7 forum, and learned that in order to use my new webcam, I had to go into Device Manager, right click on the laptop webcam name, and select Disable. This may be obvious to everyone, and I knew that there had to be a way to do it, but I never found it on my own.
The image is certainly better than my built-in webcam, and the flexibility of having it portable is nice.

I bought this webcam almost a year back. Me and my wife have been extremely satisfied with this camera. It's a great camera for regular skype/yahoo video chats. We use this to chat with our family in India and it works great. I chose this camera based on hundreds of positive reviews posted on Amazon and once again we made the right decision. If you are looking for a simple camera at a low price, this is best bet. I researched through many other cameras, some expensive and some cheaper, but settled with this one as the best value for money. I am writing this review after using this camera for 1 year, so you can count on it.Customer Review: Great Value

I recently purchased the VX-3000 to support Skype. We have a family member moving to Europe and wanted to stay in touch visually. The camera installed into XP-Pro without incident and to my amazement the built in microphone worked well, in spite of everything I had read on this site. I figured I would be stuck using my separate microphone but the camera's worked, as good as, if not better. The images are clear and we are happy. When using Skype the Microsoft software automatic face tracking and zoom functions are not supported.
I've recommend this LifeCam to other family member's.
