I read a lot of reviews and did extensive research before buying this webcam. It appeared to be the best value for the money based upon my investigation. I was not disappointed. By shopping on line, I was able to buy 3 for just a little more than the big electronic superstores were charging for just one. Even if I had paid full price, it would have been worth the money.
The image is crisp and clear using Windows Live, which is all we really plan on using it for at this point. Installation was beyond easy. The picture is much better than my mother's installed camera she got with her new laptop. I puchased 2 others for my in-laws, so they can see their grandson, rather than just write or call him. The age of the Jetson's video phone is here, take advantage of it!

I searched through most of the web cams on amazon.com and there were more expensive cameras and perhaps more bells and whistles with other cameras. I needed something affordable and decent. My sister has recently moved out to California from NY and has been feeling homesick. We are both very good with computers, but do not have any advanced degree involving computer hardware or software. We are your average mid-20 somethings. This camera was perfect for our needs and affordable. The only issues that come up are because of the computers it is attached to.
I would definitely recommend downloading Skype instead of the programs recommended by Microsoft.
Now, my family and I seem closer and my sister feels better about being across the country.

I purchased this camera, installed it, downloaded and installed skype with firefox, and had it up and running in less than 40 min. I called my folks in CT, with myself in CA, and the grandparents got their first taste of video conferencing. The image was excellent at 2ft and the even saw the cat at 8 ft. Now they've got the bug. Tonight for 30 minutes I was on the floor working with our 4 month old daughter in the activity center at 4 ft and they could hear the laughs the giggles and see the smiles all through the camera. Priceless long distance viewing. It even does well in the limited light put out by a ceiling fan and a desk lamp. Overall I'm extremely pleased with this little camera, and for the cost it's an excellent buy and I would happily recommend it to friends.Customer Review: Great product, very reliable, come with mic

This webcam works great, it adjusts well to my laptop screen and it also rests well on my desk. It takes about 5 minutes to install the software and it works great! I use it on Skype all the time, and I haven't had any problems with it in the 9 months I've owned it. The software it comes with is great for making little videos and taking pictures, even when you're not chatting. The software can also be programmed to follow your face and zoom in and out instantly, which I haven't used much but is pretty neat. The mic works well, although not as clear as a headset. The button on top is specifically designed for MSN messenger, wish that was programmable since I don't use MSN messenger, but that's the only marginal con. This is my first webcam, I bought it to use with Skype.
Pros:
1. Quite a sensitive microphone (even when I spoke quietly, the other party could hear me, although maybe Windows Vista sound settings helped)
2. It adjusts to the lighting, even if the light is not very good, color distortion is not too big.
3. Can be positioned easily on top of an LCD monitor
4. Turns and swivels in any direction
Cons:
1. Manual focus
2. Face tracking tends to zoom in and out even if you don't move (not a big con since I don't use it).
3. Packaging is not very environmentally friendly as the small camera comes in a large box with a lot of extra cardboard padding.
