Customer Review: Frustration Free Packaging for Lifecam is Perfect!

I bought this as a Prime member (I highly recommend a Prime membership with Amazon-- $3.99/one day shipping) and opted for Amazon's Frustration-Free Packaging option!
At first I was hesitant about the Frustration-Free Packaging because I was worried it wouldn't be enough to keep the webcam from bouncing around inside the box during transit, but I was totally wrong! I opened up the box and found the Microsoft Lifecam Cinema webcam had not even budged, as far as I could tell, during shipping.
Aside from packaging, the webcam quality is excellent! It works well on Skype, Google Chat, Facebook, etc!
Also of note is that the camera shipped with the latest firmware. If you ordered this camera earlier on, you may not have the latest firmware (compared to what's available on MS's site now), which MS states has:
- [improved/new] TrueColor compatibility
- Improved Audio
- Improved auto-focus
- Other firmware upgrades
so I'm betting if you have any problems with your Lifecam, then they should be fixable by the new firmware from Microsoft!
I couldn't say how the included CD's software is, because I chose to just go to MS's site and download the latest Lifecam software (separate package from the firmware), just because I had a feeling it'd be outdated (I've had a ton of CD's from various top-name manufacturers with outdated software, such as ASUS, Intel, etc... not calling them out, though!).
anyways though, check out the videos in other peoples' reviews! this camera gets all five-stars from me! sound quality, picture quality, etc. are excellent (from what my buddies who are on the receiving end tell me).
Also, for what it's worth, I'm using this Lifecam Cinema on a Windows 7 64-bit installation and everything runs flawlessly. My internet connection speed is equivalent to DSL (apartment complex-provided internet) and I don't have any trouble with the HD video sharing choking.
