Customer Review: Wonderful workhorse of a keyboard
Summary: 5 Stars

I've been using this keyboard for years and continue to be impressed at its comfort and utility. Every so often I try out a new keyboard, but have never found anything that even comes close to the Digital Media Pro.

I find the keys perfectly weighted - not too light, not too heavy. The wrist rest is nicely positioned to keep me comfortable for hours on end. It's corded but I don't see that as a drawback - I just don't get why a cordless keyboard is of value for a desktop PC.

The best feature is the programmable keys. Using the included software, you can re-map many of them to whatever feature you want. I use several of them to launch applications with a single press, or bring up directory views of files. There are also five keys you can link to a URL (for example, my Amazon cart is one of the keys). The latter feature is so helpful that I wish there were more keys that you could map to a URL.

Durability has been great - zero problems even though I have not exactly taken the best care of it.

This is one of the few Microsoft products that I've never felt the urge to curse because it doesn't work as it should! Highly recommend.

Customer Review: Great keyboard, nice looking too
Summary: 5 Stars

This keyboard looks great and just "feels right". I should note that I'm one of those "older" computer users (49 years old) who grew up with electric typewriters and then the early PCs. So maybe that influences what seems "right" to me. But I would think that even younger users will love the feel of this keyboard.

I tried to go a cheaper route with one of those "superman" keyboards at about half this price, but I found it essentially unusable due to my style of typing. I can type fairly quickly, and this keyboard doesn't slow me down or cause unexpected errors. I don't use the "bonus" keys at the top (such as for e-mail and internet surfing), but the basic keyboard here is well worth the price to me. Not that this is particularly expensive, but I see no need to pay a lot more.

Let me also note that the black "wristwrest" part at the lower part of the keyboard is detachable. Leaving you with just a silver keyboard look along the bottom. I find removing the black plastic "wristrest" to make the keyboard more useful and more attractive than in the main picture.

Customer Review: I love this keyboard!
Summary: 5 Stars

I was a bit wary about purchasing this product at first because of a couple other reviews I read. However, being on a tight income and desperately needing a new keyboard won, and I went ahead and bought it. I am 100% pleased with it! I wasn't sure if I was going to even use all of the features on it, but I do and love the convenience of them! With my old keyboard it was a huge problem with me using it at night. I'm a night owl, and do all of my computer stuff late at night into the wee hours of the morning. My old keyboard was extremely loud, and often times I would disturb my roommates sleeping children. This keyboard is as silent as you're gonna get! I only feel a slight difference in the typing, but it was very easy to get used to. I read in one review that it wasn't capable of using three keys at once with applications, but I've had no problems with that at all. I tested it with several different things, and it always worked. Possible faulty keyboard? In any case, I'm extremely happy with my new keyboard, and I would recommend it to anyone. It's a great price for a great product!

Customer Review: All functions work well via a PS/2 KVM switch!
Summary: 5 Stars

I needed a PS/2 keyboard that would work well via my Linksys ProConnect® Integrated KVM 2-Port Switch (PC running XP & Sun Sparc running Solaris 10). I tried out this one and a Logitech Elite. The Elite didn't support all the software supported functions via the KVM.

All software supported functions work well on the PC side with the Microsoft Digital Media Pro Keyboard (Including the zoom slider, volume controls, launch buttons etc). It also works as a regular keyboard for Sun Solaris (I have a Rextron KNCS11C unit to emulate a keyboard on the Sun Sparc side).

The keys are a bit cramped compared to my Gaming keyboard (Saitek), but they are easy to locate and type on. The pre-configured launch buttons are quite useful and the zoom control is amazing (although it doesn't work on about 25% of web pages). The only thing I miss is backlight for the keys (might not be possible via a PS/2 interface due to power drain). I highly recommend this keyboard of you have a PS/2 based KVM switch.

Customer Review: I LOVE THIS KEYBOARD
Summary: 5 Stars

I bought this keyboard to replace the keyboard that came with my Dell Dimension 8200, on which the volume keys had ceased working. I usually purchase Logitech, but I picked the Microsoft because of the price and looks. The sales guy didn't seem all that impressed with it, but I didn't want the cheapest ($10-$12), but didn't really want to spend that much. I love the quiet touch of the keys and all the pre-programmed keys which seem to work so fast. Really enjoy the My Favorites 1-5 keys as well. I liked this KB so much I went and got another one for my Dimension 4700C, which came with a Dell KB that seemed small & awkward! The Microsoft KB is very comfortable to use and I'm really happy I picked this one. I'd recommend it to anyone, especially with the prices on some of the keyboards. Except in special circumstances (like the one I have attached to my big television), who really needs wireless keyboards anyway.

I am totally pleased with the Microsoft Digital Media Pro Keyboard!
