Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Microsoft Bluetooth Notebook Mouse 5000Customer Review: Microsoft Bluetooth Notebook Mouse 5000 Summary: 5 Stars
I have a new MacBook Pro Notebook and have been looking tirelessly for a wireless mouse, preferably bluetooth, since the macs are bluetooth ready as a standard feature. Unfortunately, most wireless mice are usb, requiring you to plug a usb adapter into your laptop everytime you want to use the mouse. I guess they work fine, but inconvenient in my mind. If you leave the adapter in all the time, you risk having it fall out or get caught on something and break, since it obviously protrudes from the side of the laptop. After extensive research, found selection of bluetooth mice quite limited. Either came only in white, such as Apple's own mouse, which will be filthy in no time, or ugly colors and crazy non-ergonomic shapes. Finally found this Microsoft bluetooth mouse at best buy for $50. Then did some online research, found mostly good reviews, including another mac book user, and to top it all off, found it here at amazon for $35 & free shipping! I was stoked. Took the other one back to best buy. Received from Amazon in a couple few day, well packed and no damage, as always. Works fantastic! Connects immediately, no lag or waiting, and performs flawlessly, just like a wired mouse. Very comfortable. Have used for about a month now and couldn't be happier, even if I had spent the $50. Great price just icing on the cake. If you need a bluetooth wireless mouse, look no further. Great product at (almost) any price. Quite pleased with our decision.
Customer Review: SNOW LEOPARD COMPATIBLE !!! great mouse Summary: 5 Stars
i have no idea why everyone is saying its NOT compatible with snow leopard, it IS compatible, however you need to install software to make it work, it needs a driver like most hardware, you need Microsoft Intellipoint 7.0 NOT 6.3, NO software is included with the mouse, but its fine, i found the software online, just google "Microsoft Intellipoint 7.0" its the first link!
it will not work however if you boot into 64bit, its 32bit by default, Microsoft will have an update for 64bit by October their website says, so install Intellipoint and then connect the mouse via bluetooth, it'll work perfectly! you can then customize the buttons and settings of the mouse in the Intellipoint utility (which can be found under Settings>Intellipoint at the bottom of the Settings Window when you open that, according to the MacLife review they said you CANT customize buttons, well theyre wrong
small mouse, but great ergonomics for my relatively big hand, im 5'11" 180lbs and this is a great addition to my brand new MacBook Pro, ive been using it for photoshop while at my desk and its comfortable, waaaay better than the mighty mouse, a little light but thats not necessarily a bad thing, scroll wheel is a little loud but whatevs, plus it works great on almost any surface even on my jeans!
Update 10/8/09: intellipoint 7.1 and fixes all bugs and now works with full 64bit Snow Leopord
Customer Review: Great! Summary: 5 Stars
I purchased a Lenovo S-12 through Amazon. A GREAT little computer, by the way! I'm not a fan of the touch pad "mouse" on netbook and laptop keyboards so, at the same time I ordered a wireless mouse which included a small USB reciever. I use my netbook on a small lap-desk so surface area is at a premium. Anything plugged into one of the 3 USB slots takes up room for the mouse to move.
The S-12 has Bluetooth capability. I ordered the MS Bluetooth Notebook Mouse 5000. When it arrived it was immediately detected by the computer. I've had it several weeks now and it works flawlessly, freeing up a USB socket and space on the lap-desk.
The mouse has worked well on all surfaces except one: Transparent glass. I have a glass top table on the deck. I need a mousepad when using the mouse out there.
I don't know what the battery life will be. It's still running on the first battery I installed. The 5000 has an "off-on" switch on the back -- something that was missing on the first wireless mouse I ordered -- which I religiously switch off when I'm not using. A few reviewers complained that the 5000 would lose contact with the computer occasionally. I have never had this happen. The MS Bluetooth Notebook Mouse 5000 works as well for me as any wired mouse.
Would I buy this mouse again? Without hesitation.
Customer Review: Functional, portable, inexpensive = great value Summary: 5 Stars
Microsoft does make very good peripherals, and this mouse is no exception. It functions perfectly on both the Mac and Windows systems that I am using. I was using the first I bought for over a year and it is so good, I bought a second for another system. Some general observations:
1) The mouse is very responsive on almost every surface - a plus when you are traveling and can't be sure what surface you will be working on.
2) It is solid, has good weight, but it isn't too heavy for the mobile crowd. I carry it in my bag every day with no problem.
3) The batteries seem to last forever. I use this mouse 8-10 hours a day, rarely turn it off and it's still 3 months before the batteries need to be replaced. Use alkaline and forget rechargeables because I have not had the same results.
4) It's Bluetooth so no dongle required (assuming you have Bluetooth already). I find this much more reliable than radio models. I can't recall a single instance where the mouse has dropped the connection.
5) This is the best value you will find in a Bluetooth mouse. Excellent quality and very reasonably priced.
6) Don't worry about the missing device specific driver mentioned by another reviewer, it really doesn't matter as it works great out of the box.
Customer Review: This is the one.. Summary: 5 Stars
This is defiantly the easiest bluetooth device to install i have ever used.. It has a great battery life which i was worried about from reading the other reviews.. i haven't had to change them yet and it still shows that i have good life left and i have been using it with my laptop every day for the last month in a half or so.. the range is excellent for when i hook my laptop up to my TV.. i cant sit across the room and the mouse still works like a charm. my laptop did not come with bluetooth so i use a usb bluetooth dongle.. i also use bluetooth wireless headphones at the same time as using my mouse, with no interruptions, or issues at all.. plus it all only uses that one usb port! my friend has the apple mighty mouse and he cant say the same about using his bluetooth headphones at the same time as his mouse, he says he has tracking issues, and sometimes makes the sound cut in and out so he only uses one at a time.. boy am i glad i dont have to do that! now i just gotta get a bluetooth keyboard and i will be all set sitting on my couch, using my computer on my big screen. man i love technology. hope this helps people! by the way, it was the cheapest bluetooth mouse i could find at $34 with the super saver shipping.. that is as much or less than a usb mouse..thanks amazon!
