Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Microsoft Arc Mouse - BlackCustomer Review: Great Travel Mouse Summary: 5 Stars
I've had this mouse for over a month now and I have to say I am very pleased. I had my eye on this mouse for a long time and I finally made the plunge and I'm glad I did.
First impressions, it's REALLY sensitive. I use it for my notebook and I had the mouse sensitivity up higher so using the track pad I don't have to move my finger around so much. When I plugged the mouse in, the cursor was zooming all around the screen. So, if I switch back and forth from using the Arc Mouse vs my track pad, I just have to change the mouse settings in control panel. Yeah, that's the most annoying part, but an easy fix.
It wasn't quite as big as I was hoping. I did go to a big box store and feel it, and I thought it was bigger, but it's by far bigger, to me, than most "travel" mice. That is the greatest part, it folds up nice and small and the dongle for it fits right in there. It comes with a little sleeve bag for it which is really nice. It all fits in there really nice, and I love that it doesn't take up much space when in my bag, but can open up and be almost a full scale mouse.
A lot of reviews said that its not IF your wheel stops, its WHEN you scroll wheel stops working. About a week in, it went from scrolling 5 lines at a click to like seemingly half a line a click. I thought, this is it, it stopped working. But then the next time I put it in, it was working fine. I've had it slow down like that twice. But it's holding up so far. There's one reviewer that posted a fix if it does fail, which I saved in a Word file for if it ever stops working. You can also click the wheel down and that works great.
The side button is a little high for most uses, but I've never had one before, so it's a cool to me.
OVERALL - I would greatly recommend buying this mouse. It looks super cool, it works well, and I don't have any complaints about it and I've used it over a month now. It's been a great mouse for me.
Customer Review: Best of Breed Summary: 5 Stars
I bought mine in December 2008 and since then I have used it every day, for anything up to 14 hours (average probably 6 - 8 hours a day). The mouse is as good as the day I first unboxed it. Prior to buying this mouse, I had gone through a dozen or so others from Logitech, Kensington, Saitek, Razer and Razorfish. Some were good, others not so much, but they all had one or two little foibles - things like poor battery life, poor tracking on some surfaces, poor reception or just plain uncomfortable. The Arc mouse does everything very, very well and involves fewer compromises than any other mouse I've owned.
The design is not only striking, but strikingly beautiful. It really looks like the kind of tech you expect from Apple (except, unlike Apple, the Arc Mouse has function to match it's form), which is interesting because I would say the same of a number of other recent Microsoft products like ZuneHD and especially WindozePhone 7.
Build quality is first-rate and it comes with a suede pouch to make it a truly premium purchase. The receiver is held in place firmly by a magnet and with the arc folded it is never going to fall out. It works beautifully, tracking smoothly on most surfaces. It is extremely comfortable, even after hours of use. Folded up, it is smaller than any other mouse I've owned yet when you open it out it is as big as a desktop mouse in your hand, making it the perfect portable mouse that you can use at your desk all day, too.
As I said, I use mine probably 6 to 8 hours a day, every day, and it is plugged into my PC 24/7. Two alkaline batteries last around 3 or 4 months, which is better than any other wireless mouse I've owned.
I am hesitant to award any device 5 stars but when I went through the individual attribute ratings, I couldn't see any way to give the Arc Mouse any less. It really is as close to perfect as any mouse can get, except maybe for the new ArcTouch mouse.
Customer Review: Microsoft Arc Mouse: A good little mouse Summary: 5 Stars
I don't normally promote Microsoft products but this is a good buy.
Best Features:
- It's a solid little mouse despite being a few ounces in weight.
- Sensitive scroll wheel
- no drivers to install unless you want extra features of intellimouse software.
- Tiny USB transmitter/receiver.
- Nice feel, rubberized mouse surface makes it stick to your hand.
- Plastic glide points makes it well, glide nicely.
- Back button for web and directory browsing.
- Folds into a nice small package with a nice leatherette (sic) pouch with a magnetic closure.
- Magnetic holder for USB transmitter/receiver
- Works nicely with my mac, even better than with Vista/XP because the glide pad and mouse tracking speed are not separately configurable. This means that if you adjust the mouse speed to match the mouse the glide pad speed is WAY too slow and it takes a lot of work to get the cursor across the screen with the glide pad. (This isn't a problem on my MAC!!!)
Bad Points
- The back button is out of reach of your thumb so you have to "crawl" your hand forward to reach the back button.
- Not sure about battery life. Haven't had it long enough to know. Hope it lasts ok. The power is shut off when you fold it shut so the more you fold it shut, the longer the battery life.
- It's not bluetooth. Would be nice to not lose a USB port when I want to use a mouse AND USB drive AND another USB thing.
As you can see there are only a few negative points.
It's a pretty solid mouse.
If you want the added features go to [.....] and search for intellimouse and you can get the extended software for interesting features.
Try one. They're a bit pricier than I'd prefer but I gifted it to myself because I'll be in Kuwait for a year. : /
Customer Review: You really couldn't ask for anything better.... honestly the BEST MOUSE EVER!!!!! Summary: 5 Stars
Im in high school and the school computer i got has a pretty small trackpad, so i wanted to get a mouse. i didnt want one with a huge microtransiever thing (the thing u stick in the usb port) and that was one of the first things i looked at... its so small i never have to take it out!!!!!!!!! here i'll just list the things i like about it:
~ small USB inserter thing
~ lightweight
~stylish
~works amazingly well (its a laser mouse which makes it more expensive but is better than optical because it can work on more surfaces without a mouse pad)
~Comfortable
~folds & is super easy to carry around & store
~easy to switch between computers
~not too expensive and in my opionion is way better than, say the ones at the sony store which are also nice but more expensive & i like this better
~ lightweight
~battery lasts a really long time
~i've gotten TONS of compliments on it! everyone always asks to use it during class & they love it
~its fun if your bored... fold it up & spin it around! its actually pretty amusing
~people say u have to have a light grip but u dont really have to
~buttons are easy to use
~easy to set up
~stays clean really well (doesnt attract dirt & gross stuff)
~u can close it to save batteries
well overall its just amazing and i definitely think you should buy it you will NOT be sorry!!!!!!!!!
the only thing that was bad:
~after like a month of using it it just stopped working, but i took it back to the store & they gave me a new one thats been working great for like 8 months and i havent even changed the batteries yet!
Customer Review: Great Simple Mouse for Both PC and Mac Summary: 5 Stars
For anyone looking for a good basic mouse for either a desktop or notebook, look no further.
To my knowledge, this mouse was designed for notebook users. However, it's great for either a desktop or notebook. The design is very unique in that you must fold it in order for the mouse to shut off. It also makes it more portable, fitting snugly into the carrying pouch provided. Underneath the mouse, there is a spot to stick the receiver once you are done using it; I think this is wonderful, and I won't be losing my receiver. With that being said, here's my list of Pros and Cons.
PROS:
* Intuitive design
* Works seamlessly with BOTH PC and Mac (I use both and this is wonderful)
* Battery Life
* Highly accurate
* Simple, and easy to use, no toying around here.
* Fits right into your hand
* Not overly sensitive
CONS:
* Only way to shut off mouse is by folding it
* Feels a bit small for people with larger hands, wish this was a full size mouse
* Clicks are not as robust as I would like (on the left and right click buttons)
* Programs must be downloaded in order to use the remaining two butttons (the scroll click and the one on the left)
* "Back" button is a bit far up the mouse
Overall, the Pros BY FAR outweigh the Cons. The cons are just annoying things, rather than severe performance issues. Overall, I am happy with my purchase and would purchase this mouse again if given the choice. The $30 price tag can't be beat for a mouse with such simplicity, style, feel, compatibility, and durability.
