Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Memorex 8.5GB 8X Double Layer DVD+R (50pk Spindle)Customer Review: Memorex makes a good product Summary: 5 Stars
I don't get the flack people give Memorex discs. I've used a few 25-pack spindles of the DVD+R DLs now and have not had a single problem.
Initially, I had problems burning discs. Even the highly praised Verbatims were failing more often than not. It turned out that my problem was the burner, not the discs. After buying a new burner, I bought some Memorex discs since it was all that the local BJ's club had. Imagine my glee after every disc burned flawlessly.
Many Memorex discs later, I'm still having no problems.
Customer Review: Great price, I've had no burning issues Summary: 5 Stars
I was a little worried before I bought this product, but the price was hard to pass up (I can't find these cheaper anywhere--especially with Amazon's free shipping), so I decided to take the risk and buy them. Based on some reviews I was worried that some of the disks would fail to burn. I have burned 10 disks so far with absolutely no issues. I have a new Dell computer (as of 05-07-08), and I use Roxio for burning software. As long as you have a reliable burner with dual-layer DVD burning capabilities, you shouldn't have a problem.
Customer Review: Burned hundreds of these DVDs and had very few problems Summary: 5 Stars
I have been using the Memorex DL for over a year now. I usually burn them on an external Sony 6X burner and I rarely have problems. In fact, I have not had a failure since I moved up to the newer 8X discs. I would guess I have burned 100-125 of these newer versions and they have all come out perfectly. I use Nero 7 as my burning program and it works perfectly. I just purchased another pack of 50 from Amazon because these work so well. I would recommend purchasing from Amazon as they cost $93 at Best Buy compared to $48 on Amazon.
Customer Review: Meets my Needs Summary: 5 Stars
I primarily use this product to record football games and movies. The DL lets me set the recording mode to a higher quality setting when I'm not home to monitor the recording (cut out commercials). These DVDs have lost very little quality during the recording process, and I have found it to be compatible with all of the DVD players that I own. Also, it was delivered in just a couple of days from the time that I ordered. I can't say that this product is that much better than another brand, but it definitely meets my needs.
Customer Review: These worked well for me Summary: 5 Stars
I used these to backup some of my Criterion DVD9s since they're fairly expensive and my kids aren't the most gentle people in the world when handling them. I burned them at 2X speed and had only one 'coaster' out of the 15 that I've used so far. To me, that's not bad considering that I can buy three of these for less than the price of two of the more expensive brands (80 cents each compared to about $1.25). I haven't tried using a higher speed yet. I'll probably try that after I've finished with my better titles.
