Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Memorex 8.5GB 8X Double Layer DVD+R (50pk Spindle)

Customer Review: No problems!
Summary: 5 Stars

I hesitantly bought these after reading reviews. The price was just too enticing and I decided to try them, despite all the negative reviews.

So far I have used 10 of them without any problems. I'm using my fiance's computer that has 8 processors. The burner is a Blu-ray reader & DVD+/-RW & CDRW combination drive. They are working flawlessly even at maximum speed! The only "special" thing I do is close all other applications while I am burning the DVDs.

I am very pleasantly surprised by this purchase. I paid $32 and just a few days later they are on sale for $28. I am so pleased that I'm purchasing the second set right now. I understand they may not work this well for everyone, but they are definitely working for me. Great purchase.

Customer Review: Please use ImgBurn for buring ISO's
Summary: 5 Stars

Use ImgBurn to burn the ISO images to these dual layr DVD's. i tried Nero 9 Burning ROM and is not as good. Nero 9 does fine on the firs layer but the recording quality is spotty at the second layer.

This is due to the software's computer resources' priority. ImgBurn is a better manager. I have burned over 50 movie images using ImgBurn with 100% success(I like to make 1:1 backups of my DVD movie collection). My coasters only come from software such as Nero 9. I have not experimented any trouble with Apple's Disc Utility.

So go ahead with confidence and give the Memorex brand a chance.
By the way Ritek and Office Depot brands are the sae. So to with Memorex because they are cheaper.

Customer Review: Works as advertised...simply the best value on the market.
Summary: 5 Stars

I don't know why there are so many bad reviews for these dual layer discs. Many have said that these discs will not burn at 8x so I decided to test it out myself. The result? I have already burned over a dozen movies at 8x without any problems. And I have also watched through most of the burned material to make sure they were not freezing, skipping, etc. I am using an old Sony DL re-writable with Windows XP. I think the people that had problems in the past are unfortunately using hardware that maybe not compatible with Memorex or burning at the maximum speed. If you are burning coasters, try burning at 4x or 2.4x. And remember, in the computer world, not all hardware are compatible.

Customer Review: These are Great!
Summary: 5 Stars

I am a multimedia developer and absolutely love these DVDs. They are inexpensive, reliable and well made. They're great for storing movies, music, photos and all kinds of other files that take up a lot of space. I use them for archiving projects, a making backups of my DVD collection, and transferring large chunks of data from one machine to another.

Using an Optiarc DVD RW AD-7201A Burner I burned through a spindle of these with only two coasters resulting [ due to my errors, I believe ]. I'm on to my second spindle of these tonight.

The price is unbeatable for the quality - I mean come on... you're paying <$1.00/DVD!

Customer Review: They work perfectly...

Memorex 8.5GB 8X Double Layer DVD+R (50pk Spindle)
I don't see the problem everyone has with these discs. i'm on my third set and i've never had a bad burn, every single disc used. i burn around 7GB iso files to the discs, use them daily, and have never had a problem with the quality.i use an hp desktop and my toshiba laptop with the program 'imgburn' and nver had a problem. burn at a low speed of 2.4x and there should be no problem. and at $35 for 50 discs!!! thats 70cents a disc. why even pay for the verbatim at an extremely high price when these work the same.
