This thing fits very snug in the power socket, I had to push harder than I had expected to get it to seat all the way into the socket. The advantage of this tight fit is it does not come loose, and when pulling other connectors out of the dual socket side this adapter doesn't pull out with it. I like the idea that it can be repositioned, and you must push a button to swivel it to a new position where it locks in place.
The DC socket in our car is high enough on the dash board that this Maxell is very convenient. In our second car the socket is very close to the floor so this wouldn't be as easy to use so in that car I have an adapter with a 15" cord; you may want to consider this situation for your own car.

I bought this adapter so I could plug in a GPS unit and an FM transmitter for my iPod into the car's cigarette lighter socket at the same time. It works great.
From looking at the product image before I bought the adapter, I wasn't sure if it was the right adapter because the dual sockets looked a little strange in the picture. However, what you're seeing in the image are the spring-loaded safety covers. When you plug in your device, the safety cover gets pushed into the socket.
The adapter can swivel 90 degrees, which is a nice feature when you're trying to get the wires from your devices out of your way and not wrapped around the car's gear stick.

I purchased this for my car to plug in my cell phone charger and also have my GPS charger in at the same time. It works great for my car. It has a small green led on top to show that it has power. Great convenience and price. I thought I might get a shoddy piece of equipment, but it's pretty darn decent! The joint has a swivel in it so you can adjust it for the best position in your car, whether it be out of your way or getting all the equipment connected. Before I received the adapter I was concerned that an adapter like this wouldn't find in my car. My gear shift is directly behind the outlet so any significant extension would block my shift capabilities. The adjustable angle is great, it barely sticks out of my console and fits great in my car. I like the swivel on this unit. Makes positioning it in the DC socket a snap. Both sockets worked well. I like the protective covers. I haven't experienced any of the problems some others mentioned. Both sockets worked well and I didn't have to fumble with those 2 to 1 cords as I have in the past. Great price on Amazon.
