Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Maxell Noise-Cancellation HeadphonesCustomer Review: Not the best but certainly not bad Summary: 4 Stars
I bought these due to a coworker who likes to blast his movie soundtrack music through tinny-sounding laptop speakers so much that it wafts into my cubicle and interferes with my music. I have so far been able to black out my keyboard clackety-clack and his music effectively. You have to be careful because if you have anything moderately-loud playing, like techno or indie music, you won't hear a thing besides your music when the noise-cancellation feature is activated. Classical music and other soft pieces let outside noise in, obviously.
Two individuals were just having a spirited conversation right outside my cubicle, voices raised, and I never even knew they were there.
If you ever need a decent pair of earphones to drown out unwanted noise, this is your best bet.
Customer Review: Amazing technologi, less good comfort.... Summary: 4 Stars
These relatively inexpensive noice-cancelling headphones really does its job well, remarkable how it reduces the cabin noice on a Boing 747 by at least 50%. It's actually possible with these to follow a movie being shown and understand all that's being said without too much concentration. As for the sound quality, they're probable nothing fancy but they produce a good deal more bass than your standard in-flight headset. My only problem with these is the comfort issue. After 1-2 hour of wearing my ears gets red/annoyed. This is because they rest on the ear itself where I would've preferred an over-the-ear solution. I am happy I got them however, great value for the money, the Sony solution is way WAY more expensive and I just need them for an occational movie in flight.
Customer Review: Good price, good quality Summary: 4 Stars
These headphones are worth the price. Although quality isn't up to bose standards, they still work and are noise-cancelling. I got them really cheap at a local Rite-Aid for only 30 bucks which is a great price. The only thing i find lacking is the volume of the headhpones. The volumes are very low and i have to turn up my volume almost two times as much as i normally do on any other headphone. As for the headphone breaking as people are saying, they arent that hard to break, just take care of them and your fine. I've had mine for 5 months and they are in perfect condition. I recommend these if you dont want to pay the $200 Bose headphones (although if u have the moolah get Bose) otherwise if your saving money these are a great alternative.
Customer Review: comfortable but flat at high frequency (treble) Summary: 4 Stars
These are my first Noise cencelling headphones.
Pros:
very comfortable.
battery pack /circuit is over the wire So headphone theselves feel light on head.
No humming sound like philips / sony. ( on same price range )
Long battery life (50hrs)
cheap. ( I got them for 5.99 + SH in a deal )
Cons:
As mst people stated, battery/circuit weight on left ear piece can break wire and make them useless.
wire is very long So these may not be considered portable.
When NC is turned on, high frequency/treble (music) gets cut off.
Overall decent headphone when cared properly. I am going on 18 Hr nonstop flight next month. Will update this review again with honest opinion.
Customer Review: Nice execution for the money Summary: 4 Stars
We bought these to soothe our nerves during flying. I found that they function very well as headphones. The noise cancellation circuitry adds a very low level white noise that can only be heard in quiet passages in quiet environments, but the circuit can be switched off and the headphones function as any unpowered phones do. Sound reproduction is good, the noise cancellation works mainly in the lower octaves (rumble and roaring noises) which is where you need the help when traveling. Higher frequency noises like voices are only slightly attenuated. This may be a design strategy which makes sense, but is also likely much easier (cheaper) to execute than full-bandwidth attenuation. Very helpful for our intended purpose.
